Nahida looks down. Black knee length shorts.
“Oh. Whoopsies.”
“Whoopsies,” Scaramouche says, and her own voice comes out. “That’s all you’ve got? Whoopsies?”
Sometimes, getting to know a person is to walk a mile in their shoes, literally. Other times it’s taking pictures of the things you like, and going for joyrides in the middle of the night. It’s about finding a friend you never knew you needed, in the last place you’d ever look. About wishing you were worth sticking around for, and realizing you were enough all along.

Scaramouche rolls his eyes before looking back at Childe again. His mouth downturns into a scowl. “Uh-huh, so what made you decide to sneak into my house?”
“Well, I did come here to see you, but…” Childe pauses and sighs, he can’t seem to find the right words. The fact of the matter is, he’s been acting inappropriately, and there just isn’t any way to sugarcoat that. “I thought better of it. I was gonna leave, but I got hurt and I just—I had nowhere else to go.”

Well, Kaeya would know, wouldn’t he? He knows firsthand what it feels like to see a parent leave, waiting hours for them to return only to be left with the numbness of being left behind. He knows the turmoil of fear and anger that goes on in a child’s head when they’re waiting on a parent who might never come.
