“Now we match.” George seems elated at the idea, reaching out to squeeze Dream’s thigh as he says it.
“Well, I mean,” Dream responds, unable to tear his eyes away from the chain. “Not really. They’re not, like, exactly the same.”
“We match, Dream.” George emphasizes, reaching up to hold the chain around his own neck between his fingers.

And suddenly, there is an unfamiliar pair of eyes peeking at him curiously from the other side of the shelf, high cheekbones and pink lips shadowed by the subtle lights of the bookstore.
There’s a flayed white collar and a tan overshirt, exposing defined collarbones and dipping against slim shoulders.

George's face already felt warm from the shots but now he's positively scorching. He presses fingers to his lips to stop an offer from tumbling out. He forces himself to change the subject, but finds the new one isn't much better.
"I kissed Karl tonight," he says.
"George," Dream says and George can hear the smile. He only gets to hear smiles, he never gets to see them. "Are you trying to make me jealous?"
"Is it working?"
There's a giddy little flip in his stomach. They talk like this, they joke, but something about his walls being knocked down makes this feel different.

George looks up at him, glowing in the dim kitchen light. “Back,” he corrects softly, leaning against his unoccupied arm.
“Back,” Dream repeats, and he looks down at George. “I feel like I need to make the most of you being here. Doesn’t seem like it’s real.”
“I know,” George tells him, because that’s exactly how he’s feeling. “But we have all the time in the world. If that's what you want.”

Summary
Dream didn’t worry about any of these things when he met Sapnap, but he supposes that hardly even requires examination, because things have always been different with George.
He’s never been entirely sure why, but he has his guesses. Sapnap definitely seems fairly certain in his own assumptions, all knowing smiles across the kitchen island and raised eyebrows and elbows to the ribs on the couch whenever Dream makes an offhand comment about calling with George. Dream thinks he’s better off leaving the question unspoken, locking it away inside a box for later examination.
Later. Eventually. Soon.
or; George's visa gets approved while Sapnap is still in North Carolina. Dream and George decide they've already waited long enough.

“You missed me,” George cuts him off and wraps his arms around his neck, pulling Dream into a second hug that’s somehow warmer than the first, even if less forceful.
“I missed you,” Dream affirms, the top of George’s head so close to his lips that he can feel his breathing shifting his hair. “So much, George.”
“I know,” George whispers, and Dream can hear the smile in his voice. And Dream knows that even if he doesn’t say it, the way George’s thumb brushes against his hair at the nape of his neck means I missed you too.
