Summary
It had been thirty years since his truck tires rolled out of her drive for the last time. Even longer since the day his locker door slammed shut beside hers and marked the beginning of Jack Abbot.
Beth had never expected it to end. Never expected to live a lifetime with only the ghost of the boy who promised her one together.
She never expected to see him again. Until that curtain flung open, and there he was.
And just like that, Jack Abbot began again.

Summary
Dr. Pryce, Head of Neurology, leaned toward him with a smirk.
"Did you hear? Gloria’s out. They brought in someone new."
Robby raised an eyebrow. "That was fast. Did she finally burst a blood vessel over the staff snack budget?"
Or: Dr. Robby falls. Slowly, then all at once. With as many tropes as author can fit in.

Summary
He's not sure how he got here, perhaps it's the aching loneliness or the overwhelming stress.
Victoria got here because it seemed like easy money, and she has a pushy friend.
All-in-all, it's a good deal — he gets the companionship he's after, no strings, and Victoria gets her utility bills paid on time. It's pretty simple, easy, until their arrangement bleeds into something a bit more...complicated.

Summary
While exploring the attic (as one does), she finds an old class photo labeled “Wexbridge School for Boys – 1917.”
Two stand out to her: one with a rakish grin and the other with wild, windswept hair that looks like he's trying very hard to not laugh.
That night, she dreams about one.
Just a fluke, probably. Except it happens again. And again. Same boy. Same dream. Same feeling that she’s not imagining this.
They talk. They argue. They wander strange places that don’t exist in either of their worlds. She’s from 2004. He’s from 1916. And neither of them has any idea what’s going on.
OR Lenore has always had weird dreams, but this one takes the fucking cake and eats it too.
