Summary
Elphaba handed Galinda Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. A personal favorite of hers. It was a tale of many things, but at the heart of it was loneliness and longing. Elphaba wasn’t exactly sure why, but she felt as if this woman might need a story like that right now.
“Um… right. Thanks” Galinda said, as softly as she’s spoken today, and it was almost adorable.
Elphaba had to leave, she was so tired and delirious that she was thinking ridiculous thoughts.
Or; Elphaba works at a bookstore, Galinda becomes a repeat customer, gay shit ensues.

Galinda was observing something new on Elphaba. Vulnerability, fragility. It softened her features in a way that differed from just a few hours ago at the dance. Because now it was different, now they were alone. Though the privacy was new, the intimacy that traveled through the gentleness of their touches was not. Who’s to say they weren’t always the only two in any room when they were looking at nothing but each other?
She had spent a lot of time and energy learning things about Elphaba. Her routine, her surface level likes and dislikes, all the books she would incessantly read, anything which her secretive roommate would reveal. If only Galinda knew that all she had to do was ask. Now she knew so much more, and she found that she didn’t want to stop learning about this strange, funny, interesting woman. She didn’t want the night to end.

She knew that Elphaba and Fiyero had a bit of a playful rivalry going on, but who could have predicted it would escalate to the point where they had a drinking contest?

Having never been intimate with a woman before, all Galinda truly had was her own imagination. She liked to imagine that she would take control, that she'd lead and guide Elphaba, that she'd praise and pamper and indulge Elphaba's every fantasy. She thought about how Elphaba would look under her, how she would sound calling her name, how she would feel warm against her skin, scratching any area of Galinda's body that she could reach.
The thoughts would fill the darkest corners of her mind and sometimes, she would use her own body for practice. Galinda never saw the appeal of self-exploration in the past. It would always make her feel hollow, with the same emptiness that sleeping with her old boyfriends would give her. It was only when she had broken down sobbing uncontrollably to Fiyero one night that she had realized what the issue was. He had held her and told her it was okay, and she tried to believe him. She had tried to believe that what she was feeling wasn't wrong.
Or: Galinda and Elphaba are ready to take their relationship to the next level, but it ends up looking a lot different than Galinda had originally imagined it.

There was a reluctance to admit it, an instinctive desire to push it down and pretend it wasn’t so. After years of protecting her heart, Elphaba hated to admit that she had been foolish enough to give it away so completely, but she did. Now it lie shattered at Glinda’s feet, because love wasn’t enough.

It was almost like the little reward that people gave her for doing them the favor of looking their way. So yes, Galinda has always been told she’s pretty… but does she ever believe that it’s true?
Or: Galinda's offer to give Elphaba a makeover in "Popular" was actually because she loves Elphaba in a lesbian way and Elphaba is so gorgeous that Galinda simply must let her know.
