Summary
"Merde." Verso shook his head, before he downed the wine in three fast gulps. Of course he was still immortal. Maybe he would really age, as Maelle promised, but naturally she couldn't afford him to exist without the safeguard of immortality. Because she probably had a feeling he would do something to himself otherwise and... that was not far from the truth, Verso had to admit it.
His teary eyes fell on the second bottle of wine, that was already half empty. Maybe he just had to keep drinking and she would eventually start to hate him, and finally let go. That was not even such a bad idea.
As he was reaching for the wine, a loud banging disturbed him from the entrance.

Verso thought last night he had managed to convince Julie, Claude, Louise and Dion of the necessary lie that he was not immortal. But their suspicious looks stayed. What else was there to do? Beg them to believe him, believe that the Paintress was actually the one who created them, and not killing them? It seemed pointless, but running away from them would be pointless too. Making him look even more distrustful.

Summary
In 2021 Chris and the Hound Wolf Squad finds Albert Wesker as a subject in a suspicious laboratory, while investigating the BSAA. After Chris manages to take his old nemesis to a safe place, he tries to work with him to reveal the corruption in the organisation. Chris has a hard task: fighting off his unwanted feelings he still has for Wesker, trying to make him cooperate, all the while not letting him kill anyone. And Wesker has his own demons that torment him... Will they be able to work together just like in the past?

Summary
It happens too fast.
A moment ago everything was well, and the expedition — brave, good people, believing in their duty and their oath — was moving through the half-frozen caves, lighting the way with their chroma lamps. Monoco and Noco followed, arguing about who is the best Searcher between them two, and Verso — being in surprisingly good mood, Verso was walking beside them, teasing them both and purposefully adding fuel to the fire. Noco, the wise old man that he was, only laughed at his little jabs; Monoco, to their utter delight, was getting more and more agitated.
Everything was well.
He should have known that “well” never lasts.
Or: Old Noco does something reckless. Neither Monoco nor Verso take it too well.

Summary
Several years after Verso and Monoco went their separate ways, Verso falls in with a new expedition, enjoying his time as their free use camp toy. As more and more expeditioners die, however, they direct their anger at him, no longer taking "no" for an answer. Esquie, who hears Verso cry more and more these days, recruits the reluctant help of Monoco to ensure Verso is alright. Only for Monoco to find out that Verso could not be further from alright.

Summary
Then Verso felt it, a strange pulling sensation, not quite in his foot but through it. Like something was being drawn out of him, gentle and careful.
The sensation intensified, and Verso watched in fascination as faint tendrils of color—his color, the gold of his chroma—began to drift from his skin toward Monoco. It moved like ink in water, curling and flowing in patterns that shouldn't exist in the air but did anyway.
When the light faded, there was a man sitting in front of him.
A naked man holding Verso's foot with hands that were now flesh instead of wood, skin tanned and weathered and very, very warm.
"Holy shit," Verso breathed.
In which a lazy afternoon leads to new discoveries.

With a startled yelp, Gustave half-throws, half-drops his phone onto the floor. It clatters onto the rug, facing upward. The women both turn toward him, their expressions mirrored in confusion. Sciel is the first to avert her gaze, looking down at the phone…
Gustave smacks his socked foot on top of the phone screen, blocking Verso from view. He will not fumble this man’s dignity. What little he has left of it, anyway—what is Verso doing?

Or: It's been almost a year since Verso dropped off the face of the earth. Gustave has all but given up on trying to reach out to him, until Verso finally texts him for... advice. No problem, right?
