“The witching hour,” Cheng Xiaoshi whispers teasingly. Lu Guang rolls his eyes and says no, idiot, that’s 3:00 am. “Doesn’t matter. Come here,” he extends his hand out for Lu Guang, as if he’s reaching into the universe to pluck a star out of the sky. “I’m cold.”
Lu Guang blinks rapidly. His cheeks dust a tiny pink that makes Cheng Xiaoshi want to bite them and bite them and bite them. He whispers back, “It’s the summertime… How are you possibly cold?”
Cheng Xiaoshi smiles and goes, “If I’m not with you, I’m always cold.”

His throat suddenly turns dry, and he couldn't help the fit of harsh coughing that came after. He roughly shoves his palms to his chest, breaths coming out in shallow wheezes as he tries to calm himself.
“He’s not- ahem- my boyfriend,” he chokes out, before hastening to shift back to his impartial mask. Maybe they would be gracious enough to allow him to make some tea to soothe his throat.

She’s taking a while to confess, this girl. Usually by now, Atsumu is telling them he’s sorry, he doesn’t want to be in a relationship, doesn’t want to focus on anything but school and volleyball. But Osamu shows up in time to hear Narasaki say that she wouldn’t mind if Atsumu put volleyball first — she knows how it feels to prioritize extra-curriculars, after all — but she feels they’d be compatible. A good fit.
(The tucked-away, vindictive part of Osamu thinks, what do you know. What do any of these people know about Atsumu, about how to fit against him. They aren’t the ones who entered the world first, born already waiting for their other half to follow after them. They aren’t the ones against whom all of Atsumu’s ragged edges fit.)

The photograph is a window into the photographer's soul. Look, baobei, what does this photo tell you about the person who took it? What emotions do they feel?
Attraction. Longing. Desire. It might as well be written in Sharpie over Lu Guang's face, big bold characters in Cheng Xiaoshi's handwriting.
Fuck. He really has been blind.

Summary
The first time it happens, it’s just a kiss on the cheek, so Lu Guang isn’t even sure that it counts. It’s while he’s trying to prepare dinner for them; Qiao Ling brought back vegetables from the market, and he’s busy chopping scallions. He’s a good cook when he needs to be, which means that Cheng Xiaoshi rummaging through the cabinets in search of extra condiments to pour into his work is both unnecessary and a little insulting.
The knife is still in Lu Guang’s hand when he feels arms wrapping around his waist from behind. A bony chin descends onto his shoulder.
“Idiot,” Lu Guang accuses. “I’m holding a knife.”
“Okay.” Cheng Xiaoshi exhales next to his ear, but he doesn’t let go. “We don’t have any chili oil.”
