It is not often that Oikawa Tooru finds himself entirely helpless. Being trapped in an elevator is something he could deal with, he thinks; being trapped in an elevator thirty minutes before Olympic tryouts, even, is something he could deal with; being trapped in an elevator thirty minutes before Olympic tryouts with “Miya Atsumu” can surely be nothing other than some morbidly-timed divine retribution for crimes he must have committed in a past life.

tooru is feeling pretty good about himself. he’s at the 2021 olympics, he’s the starting setter for argentina, and he is completely destroying japan’s national team. when they call for tobio to switch out, tooru can practically feel the gold medal around his neck already.
then japan does the impossible. they send out someone who is as physically overpowering as ushiwaka, as oppressively perfectionistic as tobio, as casanova charming as tooru himself.
they send out miya fucking atsumu.
(or: tooru and atsumu meet on the olympic court. one walks away with the gold medal and one walks away with a date.)

Ghost couldn’t remember much of the last few days' events. Much less the past week. It started with the usual inability to sleep, nightmares worsening leading up to a mission with MacTavish. Flashes of Las Almas, the silent moments when he radioed in and didn’t hear Soap’s response, of what it would have been like if he never responded. Trying to find his body in the streets, falling into that shallow grave.
Sometimes his mind got creative, and instead of Vernon’s corpse beside him, it was Johnny. Cold, lifeless eyes staring him down in the dark. Those ones were the worst.Or

Quietly, so no one can hear him, as if the loud ass bass reverberating through the floors isn’t already drowning them out, he says, “were they messing with me?” because it kinda makes sense. He’s pretty sure this entire family has some sort of evil streak hidden by their good-looks and deceptively helpful demeanors. All the dragging around and narrowly missing each other seems a little too coordinated now that he has Issei in his clutches.
“Mhm. It's a family tradition. That or the complete and utter destruction of your person. Very sexy of us.” Issei nods, hair bouncing, ignoring the fact that Hanamaki has started groping his bicep. “Screening potential life partners is very important.”
“You’re very sexy.”
“I know.” He’s grinning. That motherfucker. He’s hot. And big. His eyes drop down for what he believes is a split second. Processing this entire conversation is a bitch. He’s pretty sure he’s been told something important.
“Fuck you. Am I your potential life partner?”

“Your boner is digging into me,” says Robin, and Steve snorts a tired sort of laugh.

“Okay, but it’s only a little one,” he says in a small voice which sounds like he’s impersonating someone.
“Are you ever going to let that go? I peed a little bit when the Russians got the torture devices out, okay?” She sounds amused, though.
Eddie jolts. “Russian torture devices?”
Robin carries on like she didn’t hear him but Steve catches his eye and he’s grinning. “How do you even have a boner dude? You were definitely having a nightmare I know your twitching means a nightmare… Did you have a boner over Vecna?”

“Is this the infamous Scoops Ahoy uniform that I’ve heard all about from Robin?” He reaches around Steve grabbing for the hanger. His bare chest is pressed up against Steve’s back and he can feel the vibration as Steve groans.
“Yes. Why was Robin even telling you about this?” Eddie gleefully pulls the outfit from the closet and twirls around with his arms held out to look it over.
“She told me all about the Russians and how you guys became friends, including the stupid outfits you had to wear. She found it funny that you kept striking out with the ladies, although she said the uniform was only partially to blame for that.” He’s practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. “You have to try this on right now. I have to see it in all its glory.” He’s holding out the uniform towards Steve, trying to picture him in it. It doesn’t escape his notice that the bottoms look sinfully short. He doesn’t think he’s seen Steve in shorts since he played basketball. He’s already getting an eyeful with Steve standing there in only a towel glistening from his shower, so he doesn’t see why he can’t also get a show.

If he had been told a year before that he’d be spending his twenty-first birthday having a heart-to-heart with Eddie Munson on his living room floor, that he’d be catching himself lingering on shit like the feel of Eddie’s leg against his or the way his fingers look wrapped loosely around the fork as he takes another bite out of Steve’s birthday cake, Steve wouldn’t have believed it.
He likes Eddie, the unpredictability of him, the pendulum-swing between his penchant for dramatics and the quiet, introspective glimpses Steve catches when he lets his guard down. It’s intoxicating in a way he never expected, in a way he’s a little scared to think about for more than a few seconds at a time.
