Summary
Lyle should have killed Spider Socorro the moment he realized what they'd found that first time in those woods. When Quaritch, the man who never faltered, never broke, sunk to his knees in the dirt and said "Miles?" with something like awe.
Staring at some half-dressed, wild-haired thing the Sullys had kept as a pet, a creature that had lost its true humanity far more than Deja Blue had, like it was a living miracle, holiness dripping from its filthy tongue. That was the moment Lyle should have taken a step forward and ended things, before it was too late, before the seeds being planted grew into an acid-fanged garden.
___Quaritch isn't doing well, Lyle's not much better, and Spider is the writing stained on all the walls.
