Summary
But of course her plan is shattered immediately when she collides with someone as they round the corner she didn’t bother to check; Santos hopes her muttered apology is intelligible, let alone sincere-sounding, and stumbles a little over her own feet as she tries to get around—
“Dr. Santos?”
She forces herself to look up for a split second and sees Garcia eyeing her curiously, and even once her attention returns to the floor, Santos watches Garcia’s sneaker take a small step closer.
“Uh-mm—sorry, I—”
“Trinity.”

Summary
Santos holds up her hands and shakes her head and takes another step back. “I haven’t spoken to your wife,” she emphasizes. “All I know is you hurt your head. Just—please try to calm down, sir, we’re going as fast as we—”
“That’s bullshit,” he snaps. “I didn’t do anything. She’s lying.”
He’s getting way too close and the adrenaline has Santos stammering around words she hasn’t come up with yet—
“I’ll be right back,” she blurts and turns around—
A strong hand clamps around her wrist and pulls—
“Let go of me,” Santos demands as she reaches for the privacy curtain—

Summary
“So, what’s your plan?” Garcia took another pull on her beer.
“My plan?” Trinity was pretty sure eating a burger didn’t require a plan.
“The flooded apartment. You do have a plan, don’t you?” Garcia asked.
“Uh, yeah. Of course.” Trinity started peeling the label off of her beer bottle. “Of course, I have a plan.” She shrugged. Garcia didn’t need to know that the plan didn’t extend past going back to her car and then, well, she didn’t know.
Garcia looked at her for a long moment before she blinked and took a sip of her beer. “You’re lying.”
“What?” Trinity recoiled. How could Garcia possibly know that?
“I’m going to buy you dinner. We’re going to walk back to the hospital. I’m going to leave you at your car, and then what? What’s the plan after that? Where are you sleeping tonight?”
A pipe bursts in Trinity's apartment. Does she tell anyone? Of course not. Garcia rescues her, but Trinity's trauma makes that difficult.
Also, there was only one bed.

Summary
“She better be a skilled learner,” Mira’a mutters, tail flicking irritatingly.
“She must be if she has lived this long in our Eywa’eveng,” Zo’ey challenges back, determined in standing up for this Rumi.
Mira’a doesn't feel worried by this opinion Zo’ey has of the newcomer. She knows Zo’ey loves fast, and trusts others easily. It is one of her best features. Mira’a adores this about her– but also wants to protect her because of this. She cares freely for others, without asking for anything for herself.
However, as Zo’ey continues to talk more in detail with what they will be teaching Rumi, excitedly making plans, Mira’a begins to feel a fondness grow for this unknown Na’vi. She has already inspired Zo’ey with only one conversation. And if her Zo’ey is leaping headfirst into being a guide for the unknown, well than Mira’a will gladly join her in the fall, being the grounding base.

Summary
The yellow bomber jacket hit first — so bold it made the drab office look even duller. Then her hair: a thick braid of deep violet, heavy enough to swing like a rope, brushing against her ankle with every step. Her dark eyes swept the room, steady, unhurried.
Orryn rose immediately, lips curling back, a snarl vibrating his chest.
She didn’t flinch. If anything, her gaze flicked toward him with quiet amusement, like she’d expected it. That slight upward pull of her mouth only stoked his growl further.
Mira tightened her grip on his ruff. “Sorry,” she said quickly. “He doesn’t usually—”
“It’s fine,” Rumi interrupted, her voice calm and smooth. “I get that a lot.”
The dean blinked, thrown. “And… your daemon?”
Rumi tilted her head, braid shifting over her shoulder. “Didn’t feel like being cooped up again after the train ride. He’s probably somewhere outside. A tree, maybe.” Her laugh was light, as though she hadn’t just said something impossible.
Silence blanketed the room. Daemons didn’t stray. Not like that. The dean’s dog whined softly. Tavris crawled higher up Zoey’s shoulder, claws pricking through her shirt.
Zoey blurted, “You’re hot.“
