After changing Dean's fate, nothing really seems to change at all. Dean is hunting every demon, wendigo, and shifter that comes his way. He's always been this way, ever since his mother was killed. Chasing case after case, longing for a different life. His new blue eyed neighbor is interesting, though. Dry humor, quick witted. Somebody Dean can definitely be friends with. It's not like he has any other hunter friends, besides Sammy. But Sammy doesn't really count.
And seriously, what the hell is up with all the demons lately?

Summary
Dean's got this insane plan to rescue Castiel from the clutches of the Empty. Jack turns Dean into an angel, Dean kicks the bucket, dives into the Empty, finds Castiel, nabs his grace, turns him human, Jack brings Dean back to life, and then reverses the whole shebang. Sounds simple, right? Well, they underestimated the Empty, that asshole.
Dean strikes a questionable deal with said asshole, and now Castiel has to give Dean a crash course in angel stuff while Dean tries to teach Castiel how to be human. They both despise it, but hey, at least they're both breathing and since Castiel is back, Dean is (trying to be) ready for the next step: Love.

Castiel isn’t hacking up a lung when Sam calls him to say that Demon!Dean is in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin, so he reaches Dean in Beulah, North Dakota before Sam.
Dean’s a bit surprised to see Cas in the bar because as a demon he could sense Castiel, Angel of the Lord, some distance away. After all, they have a profound bond...and, as a demon, Dean’s finally not afraid to admit it.
And perhaps that's ultimately all they need to bring together Heaven, Hell, and humanity, as long as they can get Sam on board.
