“Unfortunately,” Dazai laments, sighing dramatically. “You just got away with ‘science nerd’ and ‘soccer player,’ but I’m supposed to be an artist! I hate art! It’s useless!”
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not the problem here. You? A ‘zest for life?’ Looking forward to each new morning? Hah! Rimbaud would sooner come back to life.”
Dazai turns to Chuuya with the barest facsimile of a smile painted over his lips.
“I,” he says sweetly, “am going to gut you open like a fish.”
Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss).

"What the hell is happening," Chuuya asks as he tries to keep his pants up. For a little shit, chibi Dazai is kind of strong.
"Ah. Shuuji-kun here is apparently a result of time-travel," Dazai explains gently, like it's actually something easy to understand. It’s definitely not even remotely easy to understand—and it’s definitely not because Chuuya’s an idiot. Dazai has the nerve to shrug at his horrified look. "We’re looking into it, but for now, he's stuck here with us."

Summary
Chuuya has a crush on Dazai.
Dazai knows this, and he thinks it’s a prime opportunity to mess with his partner a little. After all, why not? Chuuya’s reactions to his flirting are priceless, a new little bonus feature to the game between them, and Dazai actually starts to find it more entertaining than outright arguing.
It’s all harmless fun until Dazai realizes that he has feelings too. Then it's decidedly not.
