I think Cosette manages to worm a way into his heart, and he doesn't know how to react since he's not meant to hold the capacity for these feelings. They're useless to have - especially for someone so below his status. I think as time goes by the more he tries to ignore them, yet gives in to them, the stronger those feelings get. “Say, will you cheer up if I show you my wings again?”
Eli’s eyes were immediately sparkling as he nodded his head vigorously. The sudden shift of mood made the demon chuckle in amusement. As promised, he did show his wings once more. Flexing both his scapula, his wings were evenly spread as some navy feathers flew out of his wings.
The kid’s expression was priceless, his eyes were glistening as his jaw basically dropped. It was obvious that he deeply admired Clarity’s wings even though he wasn’t exactly fond of it.
Eli let his hands roam to touch the wings, gently stroking his entire palm up and down. The feathers were neatly kept as it felt really smooth and soft under his touch. It made him gasped excitedly as he never stopped ruffling Clarity’s wings.
Clarity never let anyone touch his wings before, this kid was the first creature to be able to feel how his wings felt. The feeling of his wings being caressed with so much curiosity and care sent satisfying electric currents down his spine that made the goosebumps on his skin rise. It felt… comforting getting his wings ruffled like that.
