Xiao let out a long, shuddering breath, his throat working as he fought for composure. "You are so... impossibly stubborn. To find 'love' in a massacre... only a traveler from another star would be so naive."
"Maybe," Aether said with a small, sad smile. "But I saw you on that cliffside, too. Looking out at Liyue. You stay for them, don't you? To make sure what they fought for doesn't disappear?"
When Aether calls for help in battle, Xiao answers without hesitation--and takes a devastating blow in his stead. Trapped in a sealed cave with dwindling supplies and serious injuries, two people (who are very bad at admitting things) find that they have nowhere left to hide.

Xiao, a member of a small gang called Anemo, has been assigned with the task to get the group some money, and what better way to do that than marry a rich guy, Aether, and kill him for his money? If everything goes smoothly, all of them will come out on top and Xiao can leave the gang for good. It’s simple, Xiao just needs to play along and not get attached. Easy, right?

Aether raises a brow, “Attached already?”
Xiao coughs lightly, “Don’t be foolish. I am merely offering my aid, as I’ve heard that child-rearing can be… a lot to handle on one’s own.”
Aether should have known it wouldn't be easy, raising a child, let alone raising one with someone he may or may not be developing feelings for. It certainly doesn't help that the child almost looks... exactly like them.
