Summary
Caroline always thought she would be a supporting character in someone else's story. Elena's backup friend and Bonnie's backup witch. She had accepted her place with a frustrated nod and cold resignation.
But all that changes when an Original knocks on her door.
The name of this Original, you see, was Klaus Mikaelson.
And suddenly, Caroline finds herself in the middle of plots, manipulations, massacres, and a fearful whisper called Silas.
Caroline is placed on the edge of the abyss alongside the Original Hybrid, but the question is:
Will they fall?

9/9/26 IGNORE UPDATES, FIDDLING WITH WORK SKIN
2009 was meant to be Shane’s year, but, well…whatever. 2010 was going to be his year, instead. He was going to be drafted first, he was going to prove everyone who doubted his ability to come back wrong, and he was going to begin the most storied and awarded-laden career in NHL history. 2010 was going to be his year.At least, it was supposed to be, if only Minnesota would teach their defensemen how to not trip onto the Detroit goalie and end his career. If only Detroit didn’t have the first overall pick. They had to pick a goalie. Shane understood. It was for the best, really. Really, really.
Because the Boston Bears had the second pick, and the Boston Bears had Ilya Rozanov, and Ilya Rozanov was currently the best professional hockey player in the world. He would make a fantastic left-winger for Shane. Because Rozanov was only the best professional player in the world for about the next four minutes.OR: A short stint of cancer makes Shane miss the 2009 draft, and he's picked by the Bears in 2010. He and Rozy become fast friends, which is a great cover for their affair.

Summary
When Shane was outed half-an-hour before the NHL Draft, he thought it would be the worst day of his life. And when he proceeded to slide all the way into the third round, he wasn’t sure how he would survive. Then his new team banished him back to the OHL for two years until he aged out, and Shane burned at the humiliation.
On his good days, though, Shane could admit that it’d made him stronger. He was a better player now, and more comfortable in himself, and more ready to take the NHL by storm. Every time he’d thought that he was finished, he’d been wrong.
So maybe he’d survive playing on the same team as Ilya fucking Rozanov.
~ ~ ~
Shane is outed publicly 30 minutes before the first draft pick is announced. Ilya goes #1 overall to the Boston Bears. Shane is picked #65 overall in the third round… also by the Boston Bears.

Summary
A butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world may cause a hurricane somewhere else.
A conversation with Rose Landry leads Shane Hollander to make a decision that he may ultimately live to regret. Far from the eye of the storm, he crashes along the waves, beaten down by wind and rain.
Ilya Rozanov lies in the eye of a hurricane. Sometimes he drifts just close enough to the horizon to get into trouble. Just dangerous enough to keep life interesting - enough to remind himself that he's still alive.
A safe harbor can be found for both, if they can only get there.
--
Or, Post Tuna-Meltdown but before All-Stars in Tampa, Shane comes out to the Metros and it does not go well. He comes up for air in Boston.

Summary
Steve has seen Eddie Munson’s grave. And not just that – he’s seen Eddie accused of murdering Chrissy Cunningham, hunted through Hawkins, and holding a spear and shield like he’s about to march into battle. What Steve hasn’t seen is exactly how any of it happens – much less, how the hell he’s supposed to save his boyfriend.
Rescuing Chrissy seems like the obvious place to start, but despite Steve and his friends’ efforts, a teenager still dies. And now the whole town is looking for a killer, the government is suspicious of El, all while something unknown is methodically hunting teenagers.
And Steve has more to lose than ever before. He and Eddie are out to their friends, Eddie is finally on track to graduate, and Steve has started to let himself believe he and Eddie could have a future together. Now, he’s determined not to let anyone – or anything – take that future away from them.
But in Hawkins, determination isn’t always enough to keep loved ones safe. With those he couldn’t save weighing more heavily on Steve by the day, he’s desperate to find a way to keep Eddie from becoming yet another casualty.
