Summary
A werewolf had moved in next door to Thomas Jopson.
He couldn’t tell you for certain why he believed that to be the case, only that he tended to be right about such things, and when the moon was full his new neighbor, Edward Little, acted quite peculiar indeed. Which is precisely why, that particular summer evening, Thomas found himself curled up in one of the wicker chairs on his back porch, glass of wine in hand, staring across the valley towards the old Franklin property as dusk slowly descended upon the sleepy town of Erebus.

Summary
The cab lets him off at the end of the long, unpaved road leading up to Crozier’s house. The place cannot really be called a house-- it is too large, with too imposing a silhouette for the soft yellow-green tufts of bushes which surround it. The air swells with spring. Altogether, the place gives off the impression of the setting of a novel, plucked from the page and put into reality.
Edward’s legs carry him up the drive as if one moment he was by the cab and the next he is at the door. He stands on the topmost step dumbly, almost ready to turn tail and return to his own residence, but before he can convince himself to leave, the door swings open.Bookmarked by administratrix

Summary
The people who traded up in the north had a word for this, one Thomas had learned when he and Edward first settled here, a permanent fixture amongst the strange needled forests of the north. Wihtikow, they called it, sharp consonants that slipped off the tip of the tongue and carried with them a world of scorn and fear. It was a monstrous creature: gaunt to the point of emaciation, skin pulled tight over bones too fragile to bear the weight of such a terrible thing—a creature too dangerous to let live, yet all the more dangerous when they still wore human faces, allowing them to spread their corruption amongst the communities unless they were swiftly removed.
Extreme hunger, cold, and isolation—that’s what it takes, some say, to make a creature such as this. Thomas Jopson and Edward Little, now operating a semi-legal trading post in the deep woods of Rupert’s Land, know that better than most.

Summary
Steve pulls up to just outside the garage door, then cuts the engine.
He turns in his seat.
“Eddie.”
He startles, a visibly painful jerk, and his eyes snap to Steve. Steve meets them steadily, trying to project calm. Eddie’s gaze do linger on him for a moment, before he looks around. The house towers above them, dark and empty. Eddie frowns, plainly confused, then glances to Steve and-
Realization dawns, then it’s quickly followed by anger and… hurt? The first quickly eclipses the latter, and Eddie flings open the car door.
“See you around, I guess, Harrington,” he spits, beginning to limp away.
Steve is so startled that it takes him a moment to get his bearings.
“Hey!” he calls, scrambling out of the car. “Hey! Where are you going?! You can barely even walk!”
“Home,” Eddie snaps. “And I’m walking because apparently I’m the only one who doesn’t deserve a fucking ride.”
“Oh, for the love of-,” Steve mutters, then runs the couple of hobbled steps that Eddie has managed to put between them, grabbing his arm to spin him around.
“Your home is half portal, idiot,” Steve says. “You’re staying with me.”- Language:
