“Apologies for the interruption,” Alhaitham says. “That is my assistant pilot, Kaveh–”
“CO-pilot,” Kaveh hisses, audio crackling. “This isn’t your plane, asshole!”
Sethos takes a flight to Natlan. He's not expecting to have such interesting pilots.
His pilots also keep forgetting to turn their mics off while they fight.

Usually, Kaveh will try to find some sort of excuse to attempt to save his pride. But at this moment, he seems really dedicated to staying seated right where he is now.
“There’s no need for you to,” Alhaitham whispers. He tightens his grip on Kaveh, hugging him closer. “What if I want you to stay?”
Kaveh really likes to sit on Alhaitham's lap and Alhaitham is a weak, weak man whenever he does.

Alhaitham’s gaze drifted lower, catching on Kaveh’s slightly parted lips. Had they always been so... pink? He couldn’t seem to properly recall that at the moment, despite how thoroughly he’d studied them over the years—sometimes from afar, sometimes from far too close. Maybe it was just the dim lightning? Who knew.
Right now, Alhaitham was too focused on restraining the urge to close the distance between them and claim those lips. He wouldn’t allow his two cups of wine to overpower his reason.

Granted, Kaveh missed him.
He missed the unnecessary commentary, the peaceful silence they shared while doing their own things, simply the comfort of Alhaitham’s presence in their shared space. He missed Alhaitham’s touch—something he had been starved of ever since this research endeavor began.
But he would’ve been fine with it. Really.
Kaveh could have accepted the change, happy even, to see Alhaitham break from his usual status quo every now and then.
Except… something felt off.
Every time Alhaitham returned home and greeted him with their sweet ‘welcome back’ kiss, Kaveh caught a scent that shouldn’t have been there—a lingering sweetness, subtle but unmistakable. Sumeru roses.
