Summary
"Well, first off, you have not strayed if so far it's only a distraction," Bishop Langstrom assured him. "You haven't acted on these desires, have you?"
"Well. No."
"I hate to be the one to tell you this, kid, but you're still human." The bishop chuckled, but Jud did not join him. "Alright, well, if the possibility of you breaking your vow is that much of a concern, is there a feasible way for you to distance yourself from this, uh, distraction?"
"That's the problem," Jud said, running his hands down his face. "There are so many ways I could, but I don't want to. I used to think there was nothing I could want more than serving Christ, helping people in situations similar to mine, but God help me. I want him more."

Summary
[Jud] had grown up in the faith. He may have been slacking on attending church, but he had believed. Even when his parents were telling him that there was something wrong with him, because God had made him who he was! Why would he want to change that?
He still believed in a just God. A God that loved him, not despite of who he was, but because of who he was.
Jud turned to prayer.
Now, it didn't solve everything, but it gave him the strength to reach out and get help. He got back on his feet, he made a full recovery [from his top surgery], and he got back into the ring.
And he probably would have spent the rest of a short life in the ring if it weren't for that fateful day he had delivered that killing blow.

["]Come on in. Can I get you anything to drink? You look like a scotch man to me." [Lee asked.]
[...]
"Just water is fine," Jud told [him], crossing his arms behind his back and smiling. Ignoring Jud's declination, Lee walked over to a bar cart that was off to the side in the sitting room, poured two scotches, and practically shoved one of them into Jud's hand. "Oh. Well. Thank you."
Lee clinked their glasses together and took a sip of his, giving Jud the chance to discreetly set his aside.
"So, what brings you to my neck of the woods?"
"Well, I just finished The Ice Pick of Time, and I was wondering if I could pick your brain. If you'll excuse my pun, that is, pick your brain on [your character's] journey."

Summary
[T]hese days it seemed to be more the reputation than his skills that got him through the door. Chief Geraldine Scott's slight skepticism was almost a breath of fresh air. She definitely had an open mind, which was what was important, if they were going to investigate together. Benoit came to the conclusion almost immediately that he liked her.
A shame, then, that he was going to have to keep her in the dark on a few matters.
The moment she had told him all of the details, as she knew them, of the case? He knew that she suspected Father Jud Duplenticy, and whether she realized it or not, she would be letting that bias affect the way she approached the clues and the testimonies.
First order of business, then, was the church.
Benoit followed in his own car, and they drove to Our Lady of Perpetual Fortitude where he found Father Jud collapsed in front of the altar. And, oh, how beautiful he was.

Summary
The only two people who had accepted him with no questions asked were his mom and Rust.
Oh, Rust. If things had been different, Cole probably would have been marrying Rust on the playground during recess the first day they had met in kindergarten. As it went, however, Cole hadn't known if someone like him was allowed to like-like other boys. Because he might like-like Rust, when he thought about it.
Rust.
Who didn't tell him he shouldn't be digging in the dirt. Who let Cole ramble on and on about whatever his latest obsession was and, oh, it changed often. Who followed Cole willingly into his game of the day.

Summary
Ed’s foot is pale. Pale like a lady’s nape is pale. Pale like a hip is, or that pleasing curve of flesh where thigh meets buttock. Like something sensitive, something that doesn’t often see the sun, something few people get to set eyes on.
