"Kanamori?" rang into his ear. It was so quiet, and sad, and so unlike Shiori, an intense amount of worry coursed through him as he stood up, keeping his phone pressed to his ear. It wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have around Akiri, so he wouldn’t have to skirt around anything a little too intense for a child to overhear.
"S—Sano-senpai? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?" God, he hadn’t been so nervous since his provisional license exam. "I just thought I’d call to say hello, y’know, since…" Hiroto trailed off, not even knowing where he was going with the train of thought. Since everything, really. The last time they’d seen each other, he’d been, what, seventeen? eighteen? Depended on what month the summer festival was held.
He wandered into his empty bedroom, his wife long gone for the evening, the lights on her vanity left on by accident, and shut the door behind himself with a soft click.
That’s when a laugh crackled through the phone, genuine and hearty, just as he’d remembered, if not just slightly deeper with the signature sign of age. "I thought you’d gone and died! Where’ve you been, kid?"
In which two former coworkers find the time to reconnect after years apart.

He’d almost forgotten about it when he woke up the next morning.
It returned to him when he saw that little blue app with several notifications on his home screen.
Some people he’d randomly followed had followed him back for some reason. And as all good algorithms do, his feed started to push more content about Present Mic toward him.He didn’t have to do anything for the next few hours, so he began to scroll, learning more and more about fan culture.
He discovered the great, wonderful world of discourse, where people argue about the ethics of using real people as muses for fiction. And that’s when he saw a specific word mentioned repeatedly.
Erasermic.
It felt like a taunt, knowing he was braver in over a thousand different universes.He thought about it while he was at work.
He thought about it as he walked home.
He thought about it as he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling to the sweet sound of nothing.That’s when he made the stupid decision to look, curiosity beating out restraint.

Will’s words died on his tongue as he fully leaned into Johnathan’s embrace. He trailed his hands gently up John’s spine, finding purchase in the frazzled mess that was his hair. A satisfied hum thrummed throughout his chest as he sunk his weight into his boyfriend. Boyfriend. God, what a reality he was living in.
Johnathan also seemed to be enjoying the attention, starting to rub circles into the younger’s back soothingly.
“I love you.”
The phrase slipped itself out between Johnathan’s lips, almost absentmindedly, muffled against Will’s neck.

Will practically melted.

“Of course it does! It’s Valentine's Day, I have to pick something nice! What if someone’s going to confess their undying love for me, and I’ll be standing there looking like an idiot with a shirt that says ‘Fuck Bitches, Get Money,’ or something?” The brunette exclaimed before throwing one of the shirts at Johnathan’s face.
