Summary
Soft cotton tickles Cas’ nose, pulling him from sleep. The bedsheets are the culprit, pleated and piled up against his chest. Distantly, he hears the ticking of the fan blades from the corner of the room, and the swish as it rotates back and forth. Blearily, he blinks and turns his head instinctively towards the other side of the bed, towards Dean. He finds Dean still fast asleep, lips parted, with one palm stretched out across the expanse of mattress, reaching for Cas. The covers pool around his hips, leaving his chest bare. Sunrays dance across his skin, enshrouding him in a glow of the early morning light. For a moment, as he does most mornings, Cas takes in the heavenly sight before him. He reaches over and brushes his fingertips against the heart of Dean’s palm and watches Dean’s fingers crinkle inward at the sensation. Continuing upward, Cas traces the branches of blue veins lining Dean’s wrist, settling on his pulse point. The smallest of sighs leaves Dean’s lips and he shifts, rolling over slightly towards Cas, falling deeper into sleep.

Summary
Warmth greets Cas in the entryway. He steps out of his shoes, hangs his coat next to Dean’s, and rolls up the sleeves of his flannel. Music drifts in from the kitchen, a little staticky, coming from a discount record player Dean found a few months ago at a thrift store. Over the music, Cas can hear Dean humming along; the first few notes to “Rain Song.”

Cas awakes, cushioned by wildflowers in the middle of a tree grove. Weeping willows encircle him, carving out a meadow. Rays of light sunlight burst through the willow’s arms, dancing over the daisies at his feet. They wave in the slight breeze, as if welcoming him.
It’s then he notices he’s practically naked, but for the plain white boxers resting on his hips.

Penelope glances at him sideways. His cheeks are a little flushed, that pretty mouth of his partly open. He is still staring at her.
“Um. Well. They said you were daddy material.”
The minute it comes out of her mouth she knows she should not have said it. It is so deeply, awfully inappropriate. Her cheeks burn. She is about to apologise when Colin straightens and twists his whole body towards her.
“What does that mean?” he asks. When she does not answer, he uses his stern teacher voice, the one he uses on the students. “Penelope. Tell me.”
