Summary
Neil sat back on his heels. "Is he the one that's gonna try to haze me?"
Aaron rolled his eyes toward the ceiling.
"Good lord, you really didn't listen to a single thing I said." With a heavy sigh he looked down at his hands. "Andrew has a unique way of dealing with new people. My last couple of roommates didn't last a month. Let's see if you last any longer."
----
Or, Neil moves in with Aaron and decides to haze Andrew before he can haze him. (with mixed results) -

Summary
In the wake of his absence of rational thought, there were only two things he was certain of. Andrew had not stopped looking at him from his perch on the armchair since they had arrived. The other, more pressing fact was that today was October 26th, Mary Wesninski's birthday.
----
Neil dissociates at a fox party.

//
Hayden thinks the new wild mer in the aquarium, Ilya, is trying to murder his best fish friend, Shane. Turns out he's got it all wrong, and murder is the last thing on their minds.Series

Summary
Neil turned to look out the window, letting the smoke burn through his lungs longer than he should’ve. It hurt; it made him feel real again. He let it out slowly, afraid time might slip away with the exhale, and he’d become this smoke dissipating into the wind once more.
If it were a year ago, he would write this off as his memory being odd. It always had been. Conversations he was present for slipped away, and more than just possessions got lost between the cities they stayed in. If this were a year ago, he’d write the missing hours away because he’d been jumbled and upset, and his mind didn’t always hit the record button for the bad stuff. But he wasn’t just surviving for himself anymore.

Summary
“Hmm,” Allison says, cocking her head as Andrew looks out the window again. Neil watches Andrew for another moment before Nicky calls his name, rounding them all up to head for Starbucks. Allison looks over her shoulder as she follows and notices that Andrew is watching Neil walk away. He’s got the same indifferent expression on his face as always, but it’s enough that he is looking to spike Allison’s interest. It’s a shiny new thought, a curiosity, a colorful circus performance of an idea — it’s just what she needs to cut through the fog that’s been rolling through her mind all morning.
Andrew’s eyes flick over to hers, still unbothered, but Allison can’t help but feel like she’s got one over him this time. She smiles wide at him, and he immediately turns away.
Allison falls in step with Matt at the back of the group, throwing an elbow into his waist. He looks down at her in interest, a reliable partner in gossip-crime. She smirks at him.
“How about a new bet?”

Summary
Waste had been a concept his mother had hated when they’d been on the run together. Five million dollars had probably seemed like a lot to most people but Mary had taken them on the run from a man with far-reaching hands and a burning desire to see them dead at his hands.
Fake passports cost money. Hair dye and coloured contacts and items that changed the shapes of their faces just enough to trick security cameras? Cost money. Simply surviving had quickly made their fortune dwindle down to the dregs before Seattle.
Before that though, Neil had learned how to repair holes in his clothes before he’d mastered fractions, had learned how to stretch out everything he owned until there was no other choice but to toss it. Even his contacts had gone through more than their recommended usage when Neil had been unable to get a new pair.
But food? Wasting food was unforgivable.
