The thought should scare him, it should make Mike recoil, but instead a rush of sick excitement thrums in his veins. He thinks of Will, belly swollen in his paint stained overalls, walking around barefoot and pregnant and glowing. He would be such a good mom too – he’s always been good with kids, amazing with Holly, has those Omega maternal instincts.
He thinks of a pup with Will’s big hazel eyes reaching up a chubby fist to grab Will’s lop ears, to soothe themselves with chocolate brown fur the way Mike has done himself so many times. He thinks of a permanent softness staying in Will’s hips, a flushed and full chest to feed their child.
Or; Will is about to leave for New York and Mike finds a way to make him stay.

Logically, Mike knows what he’s doing is weird. Somewhere, deep in the back of his mind he knows it. Still, he tells himself that it’s normal. That he is normal. That stealing a box of his best friend’s clothes labeled ‘donate’ in black marker and keeping it firmly hidden in the back of his closet was something any normal person would do. It wasn’t weird, anyone else would do the same!
And who could blame him? Mike has been surrounded by Will for as long as he can remember. They’re close! Mike cares about Will, always has. The urge to protect him, to take care of him, was so instinctual even before Mike had presented as an alpha. They were a pair, always together, attached at the hip until… well, until recently but Mike was going to work on that! He really was!
And now the Byers have moved to Lenora. To fucking California and Mike feels like he’s lost a limb.

Mike knows he looks stupid, unable to control the way his eyebrows furrow and his lips curl in complete confusion. Then his roommate rolls his eyes and makes a gesture like he’s cracking a whip, complete with sound effect. His cheeks heat up, the realization suddenly dawning on him.
He thinks Mike was on the phone to his girlfriend.
He thinks Mike has a girlfriend.
He thinks that Will is Mike’s girlfriend.
Everyone at college thinks Mike has a girlfriend. There's just one problem. The 'girlfriend' in question is Will Byers. Mike's best friend. Platonic with a capital P. He's so screwed.
