Hans tensed, then stirred more fully, startled, eyes fluttering open. But before he could twist or cry out, Henry leaned into his ear and whispered low and rough “It’s just me.”
A beat passed.
Then Hans groaned into Henry’s palm and pushed back, needy and wordless.
Henry breathed out, “That’s it,” he whispered. “You know who you belong to.”

It’s with a hesitant grip that Castiel raises his bow again. He knows rather obviously that he’s fully dressed, but he feels naked when he starts playing for the second time. Expression of any type is terrifying in that way, he supposes. Look at me, it says, and see what I am telling you without telling you. The lonely melody creeps from his fingers again.
He finds himself rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet with each broad movement. As though he’s trying to play the violin with his whole body instead of just his hands. It's a strange feeling. I won’t cry, but maybe you could cry for me.
“Cas,” Dean interrupts abruptly between the time that Castiel picks his bow up to end one note and to start the next. “Are you okay?”

In the spring of 1944, the 104th Medical Battalion of the United States Army is disbanded, and its men reassigned to various infantry companies in preparation for their invasion of occupied France. For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible. When the time comes to move out, however, Castiel has to reconcile himself to the fact that men are going to go down and trust that Dean Winchester may well be the only person who can put them back together again. Dean Winchester knows two things about hockey, two things his dad made sure he knew. One, hockey is a guy’s sport, and two, hockey is family. Hockey meant Sam and Bobby and Benny and Victor and Gabriel and hell, his entire team. So when Victor gets traded, Russian-star-turned-new-teammate Castiel Krushnic becomes a threat. As much as Dean hates him for that, the longer he sticks around, the more he begins to threaten that first rule too. Dean’s been taught his whole life that those who play hockey should not be captivated by deep accented voices and the way a guy handles his stick, so how the hell is he supposed to justify what he’s starting to think about Cas? All Dean wanted at the beginning of the season was to win, and now all he wants to do is figure out how he feels about Cas and how to deal with it without ruining his career and tearing his family apart.

Dean grunts in response.
“You can’t possibly still be tired. Like, I feel like this should be physically impossible.”
“Tell that to my melatonin levels.”
“How do you know what melatonin is?”
Dean does his best to roll his eyes under the cover of his eyelids. “Jesus, Sam, I’m not an idiot. Will you shut up so I can sleep?”
He hears Sam huff. “Ya know, if you wanted to nap, you could always use that thing you have called a bed.”
“Not the same,” Dean grumbles. His body doesn’t get all loose when he’s laying in his bed watching horror movies. The synapses that slow their firing contentedly seem to be wired to that same invisible bodily response of the outside world, and apparently being in the openness of his family’s space turns his brain into mush. “Now unless someone’s dying, I’m beggin’ you to shut up.”

Cas’s blue eyes flick past him to the display. The tuxedo fits him perfectly, doing a lot for his shoulders. Dean tries to ignore it. “Thank you. I’m assuming you’re here for the diamonds as well?”
(A master thief, Dean Winchester has planned for everything that could get in the way of this job. Except, of course, for Castiel, another thief with impossibly blue eyes and a knack for finding Dean’s weak points.)
