Summary
Lan Wangji is a police detective who's rapidly falling in love with his antifa activist neighbor, Wei Ying — until Wei Ying disappears, and Lan Wangji and his hotheaded partner, Nie Mingjue, are assigned the Missing Persons case. Now Lan Wangji is in a race against time to find a man who seems to have disappeared without a trace, while trying to keep his feelings a secret from everyone around him (and maybe, if he has time, convince his brother to break up with his creepy boyfriend and date Wangji's partner instead).
Wei Ying is mixed up in something dangerous. Lan Wangji is going to find him.

Jiang Cheng’s eyebrow ticks. “Yeah right,” he says. “Tell me that once you’ve stopped flirting with him every time you’re assigned to the same hit.”

Wei Wuxian chuckles and starts pushing Lan Wangji's outer robes off his shoulders. "Poor Lan Zhan, subject to such earthly miseries. You must be exhausted, come to bed, come to bed."
"Mm," Lan Wangji says. He raises his arms so that Wei Wuxian can keep undressing him. His clothes will end up on the floor, but no matter. Wei Wuxian's deft hands at his belts are worth wrinkled robes.
"... Goodness, Hanguang-Jun, you wear too many damned layers," Wei Wuxian tells him after a while. "Would it kill you to stop after a reasonable five?"

He always gets the feeling there is something there, beyond the occasional jabs and the mostly one-sided banter and the way Lan Wangji has tolerated his rambles and teasing all these years and how he has caught him looking at him sometimes with his eyes softer than he has ever seen them.
But whatever that is makes his heart clench painfully and beat a million miles an hour, and that can’t be good for you, can it? As a self-respecting neurosurgery resident he can’t ignore the symptoms of an imminent heart attack, can he?
Or: How Wei Wuxian learnt to stop worrying and love his co-resident.
