‘Sorry to hear that, boss,’ he ventured, tacking the boss on the end like an offering. He was still his dog. His sergeant. His shadow.
When he looked back up Price had stopped looking at the shrub, and was staring at him instead.
Even after serving under Price for years Gaz has never stopped yearning for him. He wonders what it will take for him to finally crack.

Summary
Price was an old, experienced Dom, but he never bonded with anyone. He did not fit in with the strict social norms of how a Dom should be back in his day, nor with those Dom / Sub relationship expectations of today. His job wasn't compatible with a relationship anyway, no matter how clever and pretty his approval-hungry Sergeant Gaz was, who executed every order perfectly and would do anything for a little bit of praise.

"This has to stop." sounded like it hurt to let out.
"What?"
He frowned, then spoke again.
"What? What are you talking...-"
"We're ending this." Ghost spoke firmer.
The words felt like a punch. Couldn't believe his own ears.
"No- Why do you always do this? After everything you'll just run away?"
No response. Everything he did, all this waiting.
"What is even 'it' huh, Simon? That we have? Say it." felt his tone get too rough, his words too mean.
Ghost finally looked in his direction. Eyes narrowed. Hurt.
"Whatever this is. It's over." the cold tone sounded misplaced.
Johnny clenched his jaw.
"Fine, I can tell you." his tone was sharp "It's nothing. We. Have. Nothing. That's what you want, right? "
He saw Ghost's entire body tense.
"Not until you let me-"
"I think you're forgetting who you're speaking to, Sergeant." Ghost snapped. Felt like a delayed reaction.
Johnny scoffed, then shook his head in disbelief.
"So you're suddenly back to being my Lieutenant?"
"This is all that I can be."

"I've just never done anything like this, baby. I feel silly- not sexy," Simon let out a sigh and dropped his forehead to rest against Johnny's. "It's a nice set. Really, it is. And I'm happy you bought it for me. I just can't see what you see in me in it. I don't know why you like it. I just think it would look better on someone who isn't so-" he gestured to himself and groaned, unable to find the words.
But Johnny wasn't having it. He smoothed his hands over Simon's back, nails digging in just slightly. "Someone so.. what, love? Talk to me, please," he begged, peppering kisses over Simon's scarred shoulders.
