The Russian pet name set a firework off inside Shane's mind as he heard it cooed from behind him. The intonation was just as he remembered, but the voice was much deeper.He turned and felt himself short circuit. It took every ounce of willpower to not let his jaw drop cartoonishly to the floor. Freezing cold fingers find their way under his shirt to flatten against his stomach, the muscle sinking away from the assault as he gasps at Sokka's wiggling, "Stop that!"
"Hmmmno."
After a bit of tussling, Zuko gives up, hiking his knees to his chest and letting Sokka warm himself against him, "Why're you like this?"
Sokka thinks for a moment, Zuko's sure that he's coming up with some joke but the answer he gets instead is surprisingly honest, vulnerable, even, "Because it's you," he buries his nose in Zuko's hair, inhaling deeply again and humming cheerily from behind, "Because it's us."
'So unfair.' the thought flashes by Zuko again, mind adamant to harp on and on about how cruelly casual Sokka's being with his affections right now.
OR:
Zuko tries to hide his feelings for Sokka, but it gets harder and harder as his best friend keeps coming over drunk.

He grabs the kids face gently, tilting his head towards himself. Wade takes his thumb and–wait–what the fuck?
Wade tilts his head to the side in utter confusion as he tries to understand what in the shit fuck is happening right now. Not only is his nose magically unbroken, but the black eye has faded into a lighter shade and his split lip looks less swollen. He runs a thumb over his nose gently to check to see if it's indeed intact, leaning in close with a quizzical frown. All Wade can find is the yellowish hue of a healing bruise that was once there. Is he a mutant with a healing factor? How many mutants does he know? Not exactly many. How many mutants does he know that are as pretty as this? His eyes scan down the length of his body, trying to figure out the puzzle in front of him on the table. He’s just missing some pieces…What is he not seeing?
