Buck let out a weighted sigh, mumbling something like ‘fine’ before turning to head the other direction. Eddie reached for him, stilling Buck in place. Buck kept his back to him, Eddie pushing out his earnest words.
“You know you’re the love of my life, right?”
Buck’s shoulders dropped.
“Yea, you just don’t wanna touch me.”
With that, Buck sauntered off, leaving Eddie there alone with his thoughts. Of course he wanted Buck, he just—well he didn’t want to hurt him, ever.

“I’m not saying he is or isn't. I’m asking how this attachment affects you. If you think it doesn't affect you, then that's how you feel. But—” He paused, taking a sharp breath in. It felt like he was trying to work himself up to a conversation he'd been wanting to have for a while, but Buck didn’t understand what he was trying to say. “Every session, you talk about him. You don’t only talk about him, I’ll give you that, but we’ve been here for forty-five minutes, and you’ve talked about him for thirty-seven of those minutes.”
Buck sank in his chair. “Are you trying to make fun of me?”
“Definitely not,” he assured. “You told me Eddie made two mugs of coffee this morning. You talked about that for thirteen minutes.”
Here’s the thing: Buck really loves Eddie.

Summary
The information around what hormones did to bonded alphas was pretty well-documented.
In short, everyone knew that alphas got more protective when their omegas were carrying and thus more vulnerable, and it was the sort of thing people liked to joke about when there was an announcement.
What they didn’t tell you was what happened if the alpha was already very protective, a first responder, and the hormones sent him into overdrive.
Buck and Eddie get ready to welcome a new addition to the family, with mostly foreseeable results.

“Buck, hey, what’s wro—”
Eddie stopped in his tracks.
Buck was just standing there, fully clothed and on two feet. Just a slight grimace on his face as he rolled his shoulder out.
“I’m okay,” he said through clenched teeth. He rolled his shoulder again, letting out a loud cry as something didn’t sit right.
Eddie surged forward, hands touching Buck’s biceps to stop him from moving. “No, you’re not! What happened?”
A guilty look crossed Buck’s face. Eddie raised a brow as their eyes met, waiting for an answer. Buck looked down, then back up to Eddie’s face.
“I kinda forgot how difficult it might be to actually take my clothes off and shower without help from a nurse in a hospital.”
Or; After a traumatising kidnapping, Buck and Eddie take care of each other in the most intimate of ways.

“You’re not? Since when?” Chimney frowns. “Who?”
It’s not Eddie’s fault that, at that exact moment, Buck walks in. So it’s not his fault that he opens his mouth and says, “Buck.”
Or, Eddie trips and falls into a lightly fraudulent HR-disclosed "consensual romantic relationship" with his best friend. Really, if you think about it, it's a win-win.
