___When Nathaniel Wesninski is the subject of a tell-all true crime podcast, the world latches onto the story.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Nathaniel is alive and well and living as Neil Josten. His main priority is protecting the fragile peace he's built for himself– Kevin and Jean both have a lot to lose, and Neil isn't about to be the reason their lives are ruined.
Meanwhile, Andrew Minyard is about to be alone for the first time in years: his brother's leaving for med school and Nicky's in Germany. He has no intention of starting a relationship– at least, until he meets Neil Josten at his old coach's birthday party.
It's immediately evident that both of them have secrets. And, when the clues start falling into place, each becomes more fascinated with solving the mystery of the other.

Jean is something of a light sleeper. It is for this reason that, thankfully, he manages to get to his phone before its ringing wakes the entire house and becomes an ordeal.
“What happened?” His hands are shaking. In the Nest, it never would have been so easy to throw him off. California is making him weak.
There’s a low gasp on the other end.
“Kevin?” Jean hisses. “What happened?” He presses a hand hard against his chest and feels the quick thrum.
There’s another hitch in Kevin’s breathing. “Jean,” is all he says.

When Kevin has a nightmare and wakes to an empty dorm, there's only one person he can call. Jean isn't nearly as annoyed about it as he wants to be.

“I’m obsessive about everything,” Neil protests, sitting in a booth with the four upperclassmen he can stand. “What makes this obsession special?”
“Okay, we get the Exy obsession, because you’re legitimately planning on going pro, and we get the Kevin obsession because he’s dedicated to teaching you to go pro, and we even get the Minyard obsession,” Dan says.
“Shh,” Neil pleads desperately, hoping beyond hope that nobody heard that.
“But the podcast has nothing to do with Exy! It’s half about music, and you don’t even like music that much,” Dan says. “It’s literally just music and a really weird guy talking about his homicidal impulses, and it sorta sounds like a joke, but on a much more real level it sounds like it’s absolutely not a joke and I would call the authorities if this guy gave any personal details at all,” Dan says.
“It’s mostly a joke,” Neil offers, but it sounds weak to his own ears.

Summary
Jeremy Knox didn’t mean to break down in the middle of nowhere, but maybe nowhere is exactly where he needed to be.
Fresh out of college, restless and searching, Jeremy finds himself stranded in a sleepy Texas town with a busted radiator, a half-dead flip phone, and no real direction. What he gets instead is a kind mechanic named Cat, her girlfriend Laila who writes about local cryptids and urban legends, and a local mystery that begs to be solved.
He’s only supposed to be there for the weekend. Just long enough for the car parts to arrive. But between sweet tea on the porch, a cat who insists on being adored, late-night research sessions, and the way the town seems to hum with quiet magic, Jeremy starts to wonder if this place, this strange little stop on the map, might be what he’s been searching for all along.

Summary
The imminent return to Evermore has him jumping at shadows, and he is already at the end of his rope. Every ounce of energy every single day goes to pretending to be what is required of him—he has to override years of training (away, not towards) to perform adequately on the court, to uphold the Trojan standard, and he has to pretend that while he does it he is a functioning human and not simply a discarded toy too broken to be played with anymore.
It’s why he spent his time in Palmetto when he could walk watching every single Trojans interview and game he could, so he could memorize their speeches and their strategies and their game play so that he would not be a burden. Jean knows what he owes his new masters. And he will not fail.
(Or, Jean tries to fake it until he makes it at USC)
