Michael blinked, lost, but Pike seemed to have a sense of her meaning. He made a dismissive noise. "Someone should tell the flag officers to calm down and mind their business."
"Please try that. And let me watch," Number One returned, relishing this.
Pike shot her a look that Michael couldn't even begin to parse. "That'll do, Commander."

Summary
Chris knew it was bad when he started shaking from the blood loss.
The away mission was a no-brainer, the simplest way to find out what the Red Angel was doing on this uninhabited planet so long ago. Getting separated from the others, lost in the rocky ravines with Michael, that was mildly concerning, but at this point he was convinced you could drop him in the Klondike winter with Michael and a nail file and they'd be just fine.
The earthquake? That was when it started to feel like someone was messing with them.

Michael's attention snapped back to Tilly, her senses suddenly alert. Tilly didn't seem to notice, shoving a bite of egg whites in her mouth, chewing while she waited on Michael's answer.
Michael...had no answer. She very specifically and purposefully stayed away from such thoughts about the captain. They were...unproductive.

Tilly's eyes widened and she shook her head wildly. “Why on earth would you want it to stop? Captain sexy-pants is dropping to his knees for you continually and all you can think about is stopping?”
Michael flushed causing her cheeks to turn bright red. Tilly's words sparked all of her memories of Chris on his knees, looking up at her with sparkling blue eyes, licking his lips hungrily...
She shook herself free from the memories; this was precisely the problem she was facing. “All I can think about is him... naked. It’s distracting.”
