Geralt smiled, his lips stretching into an ugly sneer as he cast a glance back over his shoulder.
“A lot of things, Regis. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll find out one day.”
It has been a hard journey for Geralt and his companions, their patience and tempers stretched thin under the crushing weight of their search for Ciri. But when they chance upon a mysterious barber-surgeon that one fateful night in the barrows of Fen Carn, the man's unexpectedly altruistic intention to help them on their path gives Geralt pause. He finds himself wondering about this curious character - just who, or what, is he?
What neither he nor Emiel Regis counted on, however, was how a simple show of trust could lead to something more - and something they had both desperately needed, despite the cost.
This fic is a rewrite of chapters 3, 4 and 5 of Baptism of Fire and chapter 9 of Lady of the Lake by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Having been driven from Toussaint, Geralt sets out to travel the Path once more, but this time with the vampire Regis by his side. Together the pair encounter many strange occurrences along the road, and carry out witcher’s contracts to ensure the safety of the isolated villages their wandering takes them to on their journey towards Novigrad. What once was considered a lonely undertaking Geralt is now realising has become something sacred, something dear to his heart. After all, the loneliest paths are best walked not alone – especially when side by side with the one you love.
This work is a direct sequel to Together Or Not At All.

Or do I take the monster’s side – any side – in the hopes that everything’ll blow over soon enough and get back to normal so I can grab my pay and leave? When’s a witcher not a witcher?”
Syanna’s death and Dettlaff’s disappearance has left Anna Henrietta shaken. Geralt, upon learning that he is no longer welcome in Toussaint, seeks to leave Corvo Bianco behind and once more return to the Path. He would have done so alone too had it not been for a welcome visit from an old friend – and with Regis’ company, the two come to terms with the events of the recent past, and what this holds for their future. And when Regis confides in Geralt something that leaves the witcher momentarily shaken, he tries to understand these feelings that the vampire has left him questioning. He soon realises that perhaps these feelings weren’t as one-sided as he thought.

Tony raised a hand, his fingers dipping through the soft blond locks upon the man’s head, carding through the strands he was met with and smiling as Jarvis instinctively leant into his touch. Without a word. Completely on his own.

Summary
Gustave woke to gentle pressure on his wrist.
He blinked groggily, finding Verso crouched beside his work chair, the android's fingers wrapped carefully around his pulse point. "What are you doing?"
"Your heart rate was elevated during sleep," Verso said, matter-of-fact. "Irregular breathing patterns. I wanted to ensure you were not experiencing a medical emergency."
Gustave stared at him. "I was... dreaming. People do that."
"Oh." Verso's expression shifted slightly—confusion, maybe, or embarrassment. The micro-expressions were uncanny. "My apologies. I have logged this for future reference." He didn't let go of Gustave's wrist.
"You can let go now."
"Your pulse is still elevated."
"Because you startled me awake."
Verso stared at him, and for just a moment, something like annoyance flickered across his expression.In which Gustave comes across a destroyed android in the scrapyard. When VRS-0 wakes with no memory, neither of them are prepared for what comes next.

What begins as an intellectual puzzle Gustave cannot abandon gradually transforms into something else entirely: the stubborn effort to save his sister’s life and the fragile canvas she sustains, while also proving—patiently, against every layer of refusal—to a man who has long ceased to believe in his own worth that he is permitted, perhaps even deserving, to have a real, finite life.
