Summary
There was much to celebrate after defeating the Netherbrain and saving the City from the Cult of the Absolute. However, the victory was tainted with a sour taste.
Despite having conducted a fruitful and genuine alliance as equals, the newly-appointed Archduke - Enver Gortash - did not survive the encounter with the Elder Brain.
No redemption from all the evil he has done.
No reward from all the suffering that led him to make every decision.After making sure that all the former companions had departed for their new destination, the Hero of Baldur's Gate asks for help from a trusted friend who, unable to help due to the lack of the ‘free and willing soul’ condition, clues her in on how she might carry out her plan.
Perhaps the Wheel of Fate will forge ahead…

No, these two would say that their story was built upon death threats and late night barrelmancy negotiations, and Disintegration spells that missed and the Power Word Kill that didn't. Love was only the ambush Gortash walked into once, and Tav walked into twice.

Even if he had, I doubt he would truly admit it to himself, let alone you or anyone else here,” Gale muses, letting out a laugh as he speaks. Imogen shakes her head in response, unable to really believe what the wizard is saying.
“I doubt that. He was probably just trying to make sure he didn’t lose an ally, gods know we need all of the ones we can get,” she says, nodding her head as if agreeing with herself. That had to be it, that was what made sense. After all, he’d only ever shown that type of interest in her when he thought that he owed her that for her kindness. It had never been real when he had tried to connect with her on that level. Not that she blamed him, it’s what he’d grown accustomed to. He didn't know how else to repay a kindness or favor, those concepts likely having been lost to time centuries ago.

Maybe it was just to get back at you for being the biggest, most detestable piece of shit I have ever—” Astarion had enough. His hand curled around her throat quickly as he kissed her roughly.
“Little love, you speak too much.” Astarion growled in a husky tone, barely pulling away from her lips as he spoke.
