How would she even jump it? She looks to the side, where the fence blends in with the trees. It looks shorter over there, so maybe that's where she'd go from. But it'd be pretty loud, she thinks. She looks back at the main entrance.

She hopes that if it is, Kaidou will think it’s due to her bad experiences with dating and not due to the fact that Chiyo was hoping he would that better someone, previously to this conversation, that is. Obviously not anymore. She’s not like, homophobic. She’s an ally. “But this isn’t about me right now! It’s time to plan how I’m going to get you and Kuboyasu-kun together!”

but, truthfully, saiki doesn’t really know how to explain it to anyone without sounding, in short, like a snivelling idiot, like someone who just can’t help but complain about how good he has it in life, as if the most beautiful girl in the school crushing on him is a bother - but he wishes he could. for all his telepathy, he can’t find a good way to say, hey, i think we’re better off as friends - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i like you in that way - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i can like you in that way.
“teruhashi-san,” he starts. he can hear her thoughts from a mile away even with the germanium ring. “i think i finally understand how you feel.”
“oh!” she flushes, surprised. hopeful, he knows. “about what?”

Evidently, someone found him on the bottom of the ocean and assumed he was dead. He’s a little surprised that he slept through the ensuing commotion. He’s always been a fairly light sleeper.
or: Saiki escapes the chaos of a beach day with his friends by diving under the ocean and staying there for hours. This leads to unfortunate assumptions about his vital status.
