but, truthfully, saiki doesn’t really know how to explain it to anyone without sounding, in short, like a snivelling idiot, like someone who just can’t help but complain about how good he has it in life, as if the most beautiful girl in the school crushing on him is a bother - but he wishes he could. for all his telepathy, he can’t find a good way to say, hey, i think we’re better off as friends - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i like you in that way - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i can like you in that way.
“teruhashi-san,” he starts. he can hear her thoughts from a mile away even with the germanium ring. “i think i finally understand how you feel.”
“oh!” she flushes, surprised. hopeful, he knows. “about what?”

or: Saiki escapes the chaos of a beach day with his friends by diving under the ocean and staying there for hours. This leads to unfortunate assumptions about his vital status.

WOOOOOOOO SLEEP AWAYKE WOOOOOO 💥💥💥💥💥💥 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Okay VERY nice story. It's not often that I see danganronpa v3 longfic of quality that I personally enjoy so this fic holds a special place in my heart. Also the drv3 long fic is a kokichi/reader? starts sobbing. that clown is such a beloved so sleep awake has already buried itself a space in my heart without even going into the neat quirks and the nitty gritty.
writing this on 8/12/23 (d/m/y) will update later jsut felt a burst of sleep awake love <3<#3,#<3,#<#<3;,,33333 that didn't have anywhere to go to so i'll start this rev.
Okay. Okay. the MC (will refer 2 them as phys referencing their ultimate talent) is a WONDERFULLY written and believable character. They feel like a real person in the sense that the way they react to the happenings of the killing game feels. Real. MC doesn't like. Shy away from being scared, y'know?????
Like, cold and aloof mcs have their quirks and are fun mcs in their own right, but I feel a danganronpa reader insert fic that lets the MC be impacted by the killing game in a way that a way that a lot of people would feel (sometimes scared, will have bursts of anger or emotion, is IMPACTED by the deaths FOR SOME TIME, relies on people at times, homesick, etc.) like its. It's so cool??? because they're written magnificently, and their feelings are taken seriously, I guess?
Oh my god how do I say this. MC feels realistic in that the story will explore/they'll feel the kinds of realistic feelings you won't find in Kyoko Kirigiri-esque MC fics and is treated with respect by the narrative. I suppose? look this might be an eccentricity of mine but just this fact alone drives me wildddddddd oh myg oood....
I have so much to say abt this but i'll keep this short and sweet till later.
I want to praise: relationships with the cast WOOOO, their place in the narrative, the way the author puts care into the characterization of the cast they're writing about.....
(author treats their characters with narrative respect I feel. why am i using that word again LOL. like i mean. they don't treat harukawa for example as some flat evil character that needs to be #Owned pta parent style. The "this is why they did that, what they did was wrong because of this, but you can understand where they came from despite condemning their actions that have harmed other people" lens is applied to harukawa, to everyone, like they are to people like oma. most of the time. you know.)
(also with specific praise to the characterization of OUMAKOKICHI), the themes that phys as a character tackles through their character journey, the emotions this fic brings u, oh my goood....
I love this fic i eat it everyday its yummy in my tummy fr. I have so much appreciation for it i'm so glad it exists. Even if the author has to drop the fic for any reason, then, besides sobbing, i'd be really glad that sleep awake happened fr you know.

it's a very good fic. very nice. i love the characters. i love the story. i love the dialogue and world building. i love the eomtions. i love everything. i love phys. i started this fic like "omg <333333333 oma the blorbo" and left "oma you ;LUCKY BASTARD." i wish phys looked at me like thye do oma. two likes and ill beg the kingdom (the author) on the streets (send in an ask) to distribute survival necessities to the citizens it provides for (phys x reader fic for phys enjoyers).
