“Dick, stop,” Haly says, his composure breaking for a second. “It’s just the way it’s gotta be, kiddo. But wait here a sec.”
Haly ducks out of the trailer. The sting of tears returns as Dick looks around the trailer—his home—for the last time.
The door opens again, and Haly kneels down, presenting Dick with a stuffed elephant. “Her name’s Zitka,” Haly says. “She’s yours. You take good care of her now, okay? Just like a regular bullman.”

After Dick's parents fall to their deaths, he is left clinging to the few things he has left: one of them being Zitka, his stuffed elephant.
