Summary
Tommy had good life, the family that fostered him for the last few years were always so nice and he always had somewhere to sleep. Then somehow a baby showed up, and apparently that meant they couldn't take care of him anymore.
So at the age of twelve, he finds himself back to being bounced around different houses. Eventually landing with some guy named Sam, and he refuses to get attached just because the guy and his kid are nice. Good things never seem to last very long in his life anyways.

Summary
Robots and AI, really any big technological advancements, had become a true reality years before Tommy was ever born. With robots, he would see ones that could clean and others that monitored streets and stores. They were typical, something that anybody could find or get a hold of at this point. Hell, some people had jobs where they practically upload their consciousness into the online world, and then return for dinner without ever having to leave their apartment. It was truly amazing. Like most good things though, it had a dark side to it too, as he would soon find out.

Okay, so maybe running away and hiding out under the house he found in the tundra was... not the smartest thing in the world. But if you asked Tommy, he'd say life was actually pretty good there! Sure, he had to hide from the people who lived there, and it was super cold, and he had to try not to die when he ended up venturing into the house for food, but it was good! He had a cozy burrow just beneath the fireplace and he could leave any time he wanted.
All he had to do, was not get caught.

Years later, a young avian accidentally sets a house ablaze, sparking a new journey for both him and that young dragon. Over time they learn to trust each other, and the dragon learns he may not be as alone as he once thought.

The masked man scoffed. “Of course you act like this. Communicator. Hand it over. You obviously don’t mean it. If you’re going to waste my time by making me repeat myself, I’m going to take away a privilege of yours. If you don’t respect me, I’m not going to respect you.” He held out a hand expectantly, and Tommy’s stomach turned at the thought of being away from the one connection he had with everybody else. Still, it was an order, not a request.
He summoned the device from his inventory, he clutched it tightly in his hand then held it over Dream’s open palm, for just a moment before letting it drop into the man's waiting hand. He regretted it almost instantly when he remembered everything that was held inside of it. Especially some of the more recent messages he had sent. He could only hope Dream would just put it away somewhere for a while, not look at anything on it, then give it back once Tommy managed to prove himself worthy of it again.
It didn’t seem like he would be that lucky this time around.

Ranboo is... an ordinary guy, sure─he has some memory issues, such as waking up in the middle of a road, knowing nothing but his name. Aside from that, he works at a nice little bakery and is doing alright for having no friends, no relatives to depend on. Unfortunately, he lives in most possibly the worst place to live, mainly due to its crime rates. Also their heroes, their overly confident, reckless heroes who look eighteen at best. Seriously, who let them do this?
He's never meet either in person, nor does he plan to. It was all an accident, he swears. He didn't expect one of the heroes to crawl in through his apartment window one night, on the verge of death, and ask for his help.

When he came to again, the field was dead. All the plants that were there were reduced to brown rotting mulch. There was a patch of green that sat under him, though. The world was so quiet, but it felt all too loud at the same time. Compared to the mere hours he had spent in the void, it looked as though years had passed by here.
"So," He stilled, right, Dream was there. "How do you feel?"
His breath shook as he tried to gather his thoughts, tried to figure out how to answer, "Like… Like it's too much, like I'm too much." It was as if every single ounce of exhaustion he'd ever felt was completely erased and in turn he decided to have an energy drink cocktail.
