Grian has a freaky little NPC robot clone of himself locked in a closet somewhere and honestly he's mostly forgotten about it. It was a joke that got a little out of control maybe... Ten years ago? Something like that. The thing went a little haywire, evil glowing red eyes and all, and he shut it down, locked it up, and then never thought about it again. Until Gem comes round and goes snooping into all his things, because she's nosy like that, and he loves her for it, really he does... Most of the time.
Maybe he shouldn't have left her home alone.

He should be ready to head back to Hermitcraft, to his unfinished base, his wings, and all his various relationships he refuses to define, but this time when he hears the lightning crack and watches Jimmy die first for the fourth time… Grian simply won’t let it happen.
He’s Grian, he can get anything he wants, if he’s persistent enough.
So Grian lives that final day over and over, searching for a way to free Jimmy from being the canary - working harder some days than others, as he spends more and more time with the Bad Boys he’ll have to leave behind, as soon as he wins his new game and sets Timmy free. Grian’s heart is a complicated thing, and so are his relationships. The threat of Ren or Scar discovering him and his affair with BigB? Terrifying and thrilling. The fighting with Scar over his disappearance, not so much fun. Nor is it rewarding. One would think Scar would get the message of Grian's disinterest by the lack of communication. But Scar is nothing if not persistent.
Joel makes a visit to our favourite little bird and has a couple harmless questions. Respectful ones that don't go over Grian's boundaries at all. Very wholesome and caring requests about his wings and what were to happen if someone hurt those fragile things. Just some experiments that would be beneficial.
Completely normal questions anyone on red would ask! If only Grian would participate in testing those theories. Afterall, Etho and Scar were just discussing this topic. Though, Scar didn't seem too interested in participating either.

Part two of my AU about Phantom Limbs where Grian has wings and Scar doesn't. Joel and Etho want to know if said wings are included in the soul link. Things don't go so well.
