He sees Louis’ eyes flit between Claudia’s body next to him, Antoinette’s bloody corpse on the ground, and Lestat against the wall. The dagger is still in his hand.
Louis finally gets up and takes a step towards Lestat.
Lestat’s knees buckle, and he lets himself fall to his knees. He raises his head in acceptance, bares his throat, and says, “It’s okay. I see that now.”
The plan doesn't work. Claudia falls. Lestat doesn't. Louis has to figure out where to go from here.
Everything changes - maybe for the better, but it won't be easy.

It begins when Louis receives a handwritten letter nearly three years after their stormy reunion in New Orleans, coinciding with Lestat's highly anticipated second album release.
Or, Lestat is on a healing journey and Louis suddenly realizes he doesn't want him to be better at all- Louis wants to be worse with him.
And-
Maybe Louis will go and find some handsome Italian man, flaunt him in front of Lestat, and possibly even fuck him somewhere Lestat can hear. That'll get Lestat's blood boiling, and he'll definitely pursue Louis once again. Maybe Lestat will even kill the poor guy in a jealous rage, and then they'll end up together again, covered in blood and feral for each other in the best of ways. Isn't that how it's always destined to be?

Louis took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he was about to say next. “What happened in that tower, Lestat?” When he didn’t speak nor turn around and walk out the door, slamming it behind him, Louis continued. “I need to know, when I brought Armand to you in that place, and I brought him up because I wanted to hurt you, how much did I hurt you?”
Lestat stared at him quietly, his eyes going wide for just a second before returning to normal. His face remained uncomfortably neutral when he eventually spoke. “Not much,” he said. “But a little.”
It was the way he sounded so perfectly calm that had Louis wanting to call bullshit.

“Everyone who comes to Auvergne is,” Lestat fixed him with a knowing smile. “The mountains are excellent at keeping secrets.”
Louis has a university education and no experience in dealing with children. That doesn't stop him from traveling thousands of miles, to Auvergne, to become Claudia de Lioncourt's new live-in governor.
