Summary
Tango had spent most of his life fighting. Taken as a child, the arena is all he knows. That is until a canary Prince comes to his rescue.
Jimmy is the second Prince of his kingdom. Older siblings and heirs to the throne being twins Pearl and Grian. One day, the family go to watch a gladiator fight, except things seem inhumane and his attention is caught by the brutal Blazeborn in the arena.
Or!! Tango is a gladiator (against his will) and Jimmy is a prince that decides to whisk him away as his personal guard (rescue him from the hell hole he's stuck in).
This fic actually gets pretty dark in some parts. MIND THE TAGS. THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON.

Summary
The sun had dipped below the horizon just as he was done. He found himself yawning, even if it wasn’t late at all. His bed sounded awfully comfy right now. And there was no real reason not to go to bed earlier than usual. Bdubs did tell him he had to get up early in the morning to take care of the animals.
With that thought, he clicked off the radio, pocketed his phone and climbed up the stairs. He lazily pushed open the door to his room with his shoe. Stretching his arms up high, he yawned again.
That’s when he saw it.
Freezing in front of his bed, his eyes had instantly found the fire outside. A bright pillar of pure fire, burning at the edge of the treeline.
Jimmy didn’t wait to stare at it. Without any kind of hesitation, he bolted back down the stairs and into the kitchen. He nearly barreled into the door trying to get it open. Once he did he managed to stay upright and run onto the grass. He sped to the barn but once there-
It was gone.
Or, Jimmy moves to a new town that’s much stranger the more he gets to know it, and now he’s taking the lead in uncovering the latest mystery.

The Red King swayed, lips closing into a dark thin line. He frowned down at Martyn and pulled his hand back like he’d felt an ant bite, tilted his head like he was scenting the air. Stepped away and turned with a practiced swish of his cape, back into the tavern where it was dark and cool.
“I’ll take that as a goodbye, then,” Martyn rasped, levering to his feet. He almost recoiled from brushing away the mark of the Red King’s hand on his shoulder, but he plucked off the bits of flesh in the end.
Decay hadn’t touched the Red King except for his peeling skin, and that was practically a medical condition. Like the discoloration, and the disregard for the integrity of his own muscles, and the tendency to rip at living things with his teeth. Medical conditions. If a zombie breathed oxygen and had blood pumping through him, even if that blood was much more sludgy than it had any right to be, then that zombie– wasn’t a zombie, really.
It was a person, who was alive.

Martyn tried, nerves squirming in him at speaking out of turn, “M’lord, I hope you don’t mind me saying this, but we need to get you out of the open. Do you know if you’re able to walk?”
The proper response– the one he’d come to expect, at the very least– was a snapped correction and then some promised punishment, the Red King’s sour insecurity coming out to bite at his own allies. Just anticipating it made Martyn’s hands itch for his weapon: maybe as soon as the king turned his head he’d chop him apart like a log, like he’d been practicing. Maybe he’d do it before the bastard got a single word out.
“I’m not sure I can walk,” the Red King rasped, putting paid to that notion. “But, um, I— I expect I might be able to stand with some help, if you’d be willing?”
