Summary
Tango, resident blazeborn and all around good guy, had been accused of starting a house fire. Pursued by the angry townsfolk, he runs into a cave system to hide, finding a canary trapped in a cage. When he gently cradles the small bird in his hands, he's unaware that the canary is a god.
Jimmy was a god of fortune. Those who pleased him were spared from his wrath while those who wronged him suffered terrible misfortune. One day, a jealous and evil being sealed him away deep in a dark cave, caging the canary for good. That was, until a blaze came along, freeing Jimmy out of the kindness in his heart.

“Scott?” Jimmy’s voice cut through the haze like a thin thread of panic. It was sharp and immediate, cracking the fragile veil of the fog. His eyes were wide, heart hammering in his chest. He leaned forward, shoulders tensed, as if bracing for a blow. “Scott! Oh god— Scott, don’t you dare!”
Tango’s hand pressed gently against Jimmy’s shoulder, stilling him. “Jimmy,” he said, low and calm, voice threaded with careful patience. “He’s awake. He’s just… seeking warmth. He flopped over me— he’s alive.”
Jimmy froze, a hand hovering in midair, breathing stuttering as he stared down at Scott. The faint rise and fall of his chest under Tango’s hand was enough for the tiniest thread of relief, and he let out a shaky breath. “He… he’s okay?”

It's been 56 days since I woke up. I have had no physical contact with anyone yet. I covered the windows yesterday, the colours were starting to hurt my eyes. I have continued to monitor my condition, but I am running low on food. Chicken won't last me forever. I miss my friends, but I still have hope they will find me. Maybe before that thing outside does.

Gem and Grian grinned at each other. Straight ahead of them, lit up by the stark white glow of electricity, was a thin funnel reaching like a giant finger towards the ground.
Grian whooped again, grabbing the handle bar on the roof – the one Gem lovingly called the oh shit handle – as Gem slammed the pedal into the floorboard. The truck tires spun loosely against the dirt road for a second before gaining traction, sending the truck off like a bullet towards the thin tornado.

Tango was used to being careful around flammable things.
It came with the territory of being a blaze hybrid.
Any high emotions could make his hair or tail tuft spark, and that is bad.
When he was eight, he lost control of his emotions.
He was over a friend's house and caught their bedroom curtains on fire.
Thankfully, he and his friend were able to put the flames out, but Tango was not allowed to go over his house again.
Tango rarely went over friends' houses. Maybe once a year, or less.
At home Tango was safer, since his mom had the same trouble, almost everything in the house was flame retardant.
Tango took these precautions into his own life when he moved out.
Couch, curtains, blankets, bed sheets, pajamas, all flame proof.
Sure most of his clothes are too, but he still has a few that aren't, but most are.
He still rarely went over friends' houses to hang out (even as an adult).
That was until he met his boyfriend Skizz, then his other boyfriend, Jimmy.
They are wonderful.
or, Tango is a fire hazard and tries to keep his boyfriends (Skizz and Jimmy) safe.

Tango cradled it like he saw Impulse had. It had a very strange weight to it. After all, it was very heavy for its size. And, if he stayed still enough, he could vaguely feel a small amount of movement.
Almost like breathing.
“You were the only person who could help,” Impulse whispered, his voice pathetically wet as he carefully pulled the blankets back.
Tango tore his eyes away from Impulse, and onto the thing in the bundle.
His heart dropped.

Tango had spent most of his life fighting. Taken as a child, the arena is all he knows. That is until a canary Prince comes to his rescue.
Jimmy is the second Prince of his kingdom. Older siblings and heirs to the throne being twins Pearl and Grian. One day, the family go to watch a gladiator fight, except things seem inhumane and his attention is caught by the brutal Blazeborn in the arena.
Or!! Tango is a gladiator (against his will) and Jimmy is a prince that decides to whisk him away as his personal guard (rescue him from the hell hole he's stuck in).
This fic actually gets pretty dark in some parts. MIND THE TAGS. THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON.

Tango hugs him, running one of his clawed hands through Zed's curly hair while the other remains firmly grasping his shoulder. He's silent while Zed muffles his sobs in the blaze's warmth, Tango simply remains a warm presence for Zed to cry on. Something shakily trying to stabilise Zedaph and keep his pieces together.
"Zed..." the blazeborn whispers. Tango's hands tremble, Zed can feel, as they cling and soothe. Zedaph knows why—it's the same reason for his nightmare.
