Summary
It was well known that Betas were at the bottom of the totem pole. Useless in the way society ran itself. They had no purpose other than to be used for all they were worth and tossed aside. Hanta was no exception to this rule. His only saving grace was getting into UA where secondary gender prejudices were squashed and Beta abuse resulted in expulsion. Well, he also wanted to be a Hero and happened to get lucky enough to be placed in class of Alphas and Omegas that liked him.
