Summary
The day before his execution, Coriolanus Snow recalls his time in District 12. More specifically, he recalls his discovery of the "Lazarys Plant", an ingredient that would later become crucial to is infamous antidotes.
During his period of reflection, he cannot help but also relive what may have been one of the happiest nights of his life spent with none other than his first and last love, Lucy Gray. It is only then that he contemplates what a dire mistake he may have made.

“Happy birthday, President Snow,” she gasps, when they break apart. Snow’s breath is ragged. Sejanus’ arms have snuck around his waist.
“You’re trying to kill me,” he accuses, fitful. He catches the look Sejanus and Lucy Gray exchange and becomes agitated. “You’ve been–You’ve been in here, plotting to leave me.”
Leave isn’t the word he’d meant to use–betray, in retrospect, would have encompassed his fears better. Sejanus makes a noise that might’ve gone for a laugh, if they were at the gallows. Then he scrapes his teeth into the nape of Snow’s neck. “Not tonight,” he says, voice heavy. Lucy Gray takes the opportunity to kiss Snow again, and for whatever Godforsaken reason, Snow lets her do it.

Summary
I love the Regency Romance genre, and especially love Georgette Heyer novels. I was kind of surprised I didn’t see any other zelink Regency AUs because the story certainly lends itself to the genre. Well, be the change you want to see and all that. This story is mostly a Heyer-inspired series of tropes all strung together. Don’t overthink anything I came up with, I went with a lot of semi-plausible stuff that served the story I wanted to tell. It’s also not gonna be historically accurate so don’t expect that either, this is Hyrule, not England, and I can do what I want.
