He can’t recall). “This is not the nightmare?” He gestures at the ashen plateaus before them dotted with numerous ruins. “Behold, a land disgraced, despairful, and shrouded in shadow! Filled with those who would cheer at the image of thy head upon a pike if they knew of thine association with me. Still, thou wouldst rather this be reality?”
“Absolutely.”
What Messmer believes to be a test of loyalty arrives in the form of a lost soul.
