“…Yes,” Val said reluctantly after a moment.
The dreams. It was almost funny how they both danced around the topic. They never called them nightmares because they weren’t anything that serious. They were just remnants of an idle mind. Vestiges of a life Val was far removed from. And yet the word “dreams” always managed to make Val furious. Because how could anything so trivial make Val feel so bad?
Val has a nightmare. Vox tries to help.

“Voxxie,” Val sing songed, flirty and airy and thoughtless, just like Vox liked him.
Vox didn’t turn around, remaining hunched over his desk, “You’re not allowed in here, Val.”
“Mm, and here I am anyway,” Val said, moving to stand next to Vox, “So, what are we looking at?”
Predictably, the screens went dead, and Vox turned to glare at Val, face glowing, “Will you just go?”
Val took a moment to really focus on Vox and…yeah, he looked like shit.
Vox isn't doing so hot after his failed infiltration of the hotel and his public humiliation at Alastor's hands, and this time, it's the piss baby's job to calm down his flat-faced prince.
