For a second, the office looked normal. Something felt off, but nothing was in disarray and the unlocked door was not unusual. It took another two or three minutes for the disturbance which he'd perceived subconsciously to lumber clumsily over the windowsill and to pull up a chair. "What the hell are you doing here?" was never an easy question with Spades Slick.

Spades Slick knew plenty about missing people, but finding them was not his specialty. However, there was nothing he didn't know, not in his city, certainly not in his bar. When the unknown presented itself, he was obligated to dig it up and shine his flashlight in its eyes. It certainly didn't come from a soft spot that the wrong person might have spotted.
