So if any of the townspeople were willing to pay closer attention, they’d notice that out of all the shiny shops in town that the gang could go to, they always start with a small, dusty store right at the edge of the town limits. It’s a two-floor structure, wood bleached white by years of heavy sun, kept nicely swept with clean enough windows and organized stock.
Most important to Achilles is the handsome man that lives inside it."

Patroclus blushed as he swore, with strong conviction, that he would absolutely not do that. No sir.
He knows better than that.
Or: Achilles is a threat and a menace. As they grow up together, Patroclus falls for him anyway.

Achilles pauses in the act of picking up his fork. He’s still breathless from his bike ride and there’s sweat cooling on his forehead and dampening his shirt in the summer heat. “You brought what?”
“His name is Patroclus,” his father says conversationally, as if he’s talking about the weather. He smiles his charming smile at Achilles’ baffled stare. “He’s a good boy. I think you two will get along just fine.”

What he’s never told anyone is that when he saps the life out of someone, it has this flavor to it. Sweet like a reddened strawberry and drenched with the sharp tang of blood, a dizzying flavor that almost overwhelms, when it’s too much. In subtle notes, people taste different—a disgruntled office worker can sour the sweetness of the overall pack, which Angel has come to expect, and almost delight in.
He doesn’t hate sweets, but sweet humans are disgusting. He’s eaten enough to be far past the point of being sick of them.
Apart from being able to taste human life, Angel's life is wholly unremarkable. Then he meets Aki.
