Summary
The Crow Club, contrary to what the name might suggest, is a popular café across the street from the Ketterdam University library. Wylan’s been working here for a few months now with Nina, Matthias, and the owner, Kaz, and it's largely uneventful. Until, on a random Wednesday, two people come in and completely change Wylan's life.

“Why do you hate me so much?” Wylan demands. He crosses his arms over his chest, his brows furrow, and his lips downturn in a pout that’s probably supposed to be intimidating, but instead is irritatingly endearing.
Jesper huffs. “Do you want the list alphabetically, or in order of annoyingness?”
“Before this week, before the wedding, we’d had exactly one interaction, seven years ago, and on our second interaction ever, you shoved me into a cake.”
“You shoved me, you royal douchebag.”
Or: Jesper is the First Son of the President of Novyi Zem and Wylan is the Crown Prince of Kerch. Their respective countries have an already politically contentious relationship that is made worse by an altercation between the two at the Kerch king's wedding. Summary
Wylan sucks in a breath, steeling himself and getting his order right in his head before opening the door. The sound of the door must have gotten Jesper’s attention, because he looks up from the machine behind the counter and waves.
“Wylan! Hey, you're back,” he says, grinning at Wylan as if he truly is happy to see him. “Nina, look–” he taps her on the shoulder as Wylan walks over.
Nina, who has just finished serving a customer, swats Jesper’s hand away lightly. “Yes, yes, I see him,” she says with an exasperated eyeroll, making eye contact with Wylan afterwards. She smiles at him. “Hey Wylan, what took you so long– I was stuck with only Jesper for conversation for like four days– it takes its toll on a person.”
Wylan, laughing at Jesper’s feigned offence, responds. “I’m sure he’s lovely company to have.”
“See! I am lovely.” he says to Nina, clearly proud of himself
