Jake lost a piece of himself when he was told he'd never be able to walk again, an unfortunate hazard of the job. But when he was laying there in the hospital, he would dream of the stories his brother told him about Pandora. He'd have these recurring dreams of flying, feeling free. He wanted to feel that freedom again, and the Avatar Program could provide that.
It's why when he arrived on the indigenous moon he wasn't looking to be some counterspy for Colonel Miles Quaritch, and he certainly wasn't looking for a permanent place among the Na'vi. Jake only wanted to be free. He just never expected his training with the Omaticaya hunter Tsu'tey to alter the course of what he desired.

Summary
Set five years after the events in Avatar the Way of Water, Kiri te Suli Kìreysì'ite has found her place in the Metkayina clan as the best artist the clan has to offer. Her art is often sought after by neighboring clans but one day a mysterious woman seeks her to paint her daughter. Seeing a chance to venture out of her clan Kiri agrees to paint the woman's daughter. Once she is here in the woman's clan, she finds her heart enraptured by a woman she immortalized on canvas, yet forever beyond her reach.

Swimming with his left arm and clutching his side with his right, he managed to resurface, now in a state of panic and struggling not to choke on the churning sea water around him. A splash behind him let him know Neteyam had made it safely back into the water. He looked ahead to see Tsireya arrive on her Ilu, beckoning for them to get on. “Come on bro!” Neteyam and Spider hurriedly swam to the Ilu. “Wait!” Lo’ak struggled to choke out the words through the sea water. The pain has worsened significantly, the terrible feeling of blood rapidly flowing from the bullet wound into the water extremely apparent.or

Summary
Neteyam has no excuse to stay sober and he does not want to. It is only around five in the afternoon. Ao'nung does not turn down a bottle of passion fruit & orange cider. The young surfer has no idea how the swooning girls did not figure out that Neteyam plays for the other team yet. Perhaps it is because Lo'ak is an absolute buffon and openly flirts with Tsireya. Maybe they think Neteyam is the same.
Neteyam does not have a bottle opener. He has a small knife on him — military brat — and he hits it against the bottle's cap, knocking it off clean with one strike. It's his party trick. Ao'nung always breaks the bottle when he tries to do this.

It's been five years since Lo'ak left the Metkayina clan with Payakan after being disowned for being a healer. Nineteen years old, he has come to accept his calling as a healer and has traveled to many different clans on Pandora. He has settled on an island near the Metkayina clan that is almost totally unapproachable and made the small island his home. With Payakan's help, Lo'ak has come to accept the way he was treated by his former parents was not right. While he still cares about them, he is not in any hurry to let them know where he is. One day he comes across Neteyam, who is somehow alive and doesn't remember anything. Introducing himself as "Guaritore", Lo'ak offers to help Neteyam back to the clan; although he refuses to return due to painful memories. What happens when Neteyam regains his memories and Lo'ak must return to save Jake from a deep illness?
