Summary
Eddie has decided it’s time to find out what joy looks like to him.
Swearing off dating, he pours his energy into adoption papers, therapy, and late-night study hours to get certified as a paramedic.
Buck is trying to move forward too. He’s dating beautiful Camila, who seems like an ideal fit. Something about her dark hair, sharp canines, and competence as a nurse feels easy.
But between grief, tequila, and a newborn who refuses to sleep, moving forward starts to look like something else.
“Lizzie, meet Evan Phillip Buckley. We call him Buck. And Buck, meet Elizabeth Joy Diaz. We call her Lizzie.”
At the sound of her dad’s voice, Lizzie blinks, wide-eyed. Her eyes are large and still a pale shade of gray.
“Elizabeth Joy?” Buck asks.
“Yeah. She’s gonna hate it, isn’t she?”
Buck stifles a laugh. “If she has any taste.”
“So you don’t like it?”
Buck rolls his eyes, but his smile is wide and genuine, lighting up his whole face.
“I love it, Eddie. It’s perfect.” He turns his gaze back to the baby. So small, so soft. She looks impossibly fragile, yet perfectly safe and content in Eddie’s arms. “She’s perfect.”

or: In El Paso, Eddie turns to horse riding rodeos as a way to manage his anxiety, while back in LA, Buck spirals into petty crimes to cope with Eddie’s absence. Worried about Eddie’s downward spiral, his sisters hatch a plan: sending Buck a cryptic message sure to bring him to El Paso. -

Summary
“Edmundo Björn Diaz, will you marry me?”
“My middle name is not Björn.”
“That's not a no, but I really need a yes."
“Buck, what's going on?”
Buck rises and shows Eddie a tiny box in a dark green shade, and when he opens it, inside are two matching gold bands on a dark red velvet cushion.
“My husband and stepson are covered by my benefits, but you'll need to make an honest man out of me before I can submit the papers with the department."
or
Eddie plans to move to El Paso.
Everything is set—until he discovers that recent budget cuts have forced the El Paso Fire Department to close several stations and implement a hiring freeze.
Without a job with benefits, he and Chris are on the verge of losing their insurance. That’s when Buck comes up with a plan.
Because really, what’s a little insurance fraud between friends?

Summary
As he parked his truck, he was greeted by the image of a smiling Father Buck, saying goodbye to the churchgoers as they left mass. For the first time, Eddie took in the image of Buck dressed like a priest. He wore a white robe-like garment, with the collar of his usual black attire still visible underneath. His waist was loosely cinched by a white cord, and draped around his neck was a long, narrow strip of green fabric. The colors, the clothes—it all made Buck's skin glow, looking smooth and milky. His eyes were wide, bright, focusing on each parishioner that approached him to thank him or say goodbye, and Eddie could imagine kind words flowing from Buck’s gentle smile and soft lips.
Father Buck looked like an angel.
Father Buck looked like sin.
Eddie crossed himself instinctively. But the more he looked at the man, from the safety of his car window, the more he was overwhelmed by the idea that he would gladly burn in the fires of hell if he could have that man use that stole to cover his eyes, and that cord to tie his hands. And then he could do whatever he wanted to his body and soul.

Eddie goes to church to confess and meets Father Buck. Inspired by s08e06.

Summary
”Uh… shit. I guess..” he takes a deep breath “you are not really my usual type, bu-”
Of course, he is not his type.
Eddie rolls his eyes and pulls back his hand. Since when do guys like this, that look like the sun, look at people like Eddie? Good looking, sure, but withdrawn and tired. Not inviting, if he had to settle on a way to describe himself. But still… no need to be an asshole.
“Well, you are too pretty to be any good in bed anyway.” The words stumble from Eddie's mouth before he has time to think about them. He bites the inside of his cheek to chastise himself for the stupid sassiness, but he can't help himself when he adds, “You will be way, way better in my head. Later tonight.”
Okay, he is definitely drunker than he expected to be.
The guy laughs. He seems unable to stop, and Eddie had never seen an adult laughing that way. Careless, and with their whole body, eyes nearly watering.
“You are an asshole, you know? I was saying this because I'm a... baby bi,” the guy whispers the last words.Or: Eddie and Buck share a passionate one-night stand, expecting to move on with their lives.

Summary
Eddie Diaz is a federal prosecutor for the DA's office in LA, and he's damn good at it. He's calm, collected, and works best under pressure. That is, until he faces off against the new guy on the LA scene, defence attorney Evan Buckley. He's cocky, sneaky, and manages to get his way in the courtroom more often than not. The worst part? He knows it.
What starts out as courtroom rivals dissolves into passions behind closed doors, and then evolves into something neither of them expected.Bookmarked by cl0pin

Summary
He keeps reminding himself it’s not going to go anywhere, but if it’s a crime to appreciate his ex-girlfriend’s girlfriend’s gorgeous colleague’s face while he’s feeling extremely single before the holidays, then lock him up, your honour, and throw away the key.
His brain might be telling him it’s all completely casual – he’s just being friendly with the 118 until Lucy announces the engagement’s off (and, hey, maybe he’ll get to keep a few of them in the break-up). But his brain doesn’t matter as far as his heart is concerned; when Eddie Diaz finally walks through the door of Ye Olde Bar just a little after 7, it almost beats out of his chest.
__or, Buck finds himself fighting for his life when his ex-girlfriend-turned-best-friend Taylor asks him to pretend to be her girlfriend Lucy's fiancé while she's in the hospital after a freak bar accident, and the entire 118 show up too. It's all going (mostly) well until he accidentally falls in love with Lucy's colleague, a hot single dad firefighter named Eddie Diaz.
__or, a Buddie retelling of the 1995 rom-com While You Were Sleeping, but Buck is Sandra Bullock, Eddie is Bill Pullman, and the 118 are the coma guy's family.

Just another Hollywood Amnesia story the fandom probably didn't need but lived in my head rent free for too long.
