Vi loses her leg a week before they find a cure to the fucking apocalypse.
Or, rather, she gets herself bitten on the knee when out on a supply run with her dad. It's a fluke - one second, she's kicking over a rusted sheet of metal to look beneath it, the next she's got the teeth of something that had once been human buried in the soft part of the back of her knee. She manages to shoot the thing in the head, but not before both of their blood mingles and runs down her leg.
So Vander takes her home and holds her down; Silco takes the rusty chainsaw from the shed to her leg; her sister screams like an animal from where they'd locked her in a room.

Brown eyes scan the words, brow furrowing, and Vi takes a moment to size up her adversary in the flickering candlelight. She was tall, her lips full and downturned as she read the words on the page. They were colored with lipstain in the hue of blood, a similar powder shadowing her eyelids. Her skin was dark, warmed by the candlelight, painting pretty shadows on her high cheekbones. Vi’s eyes widen when she sees the hint of a familiar dimple.
“Sevika?” She whispers.

Armin lay with his back to Eren, eyes closed but mind racing. Eren lay awake beside him, heart thumping wildly, his body heat slowly warming the nest of blankets. They had slept like this every night for the last four years, tangled together for warmth and comfort, Armin stroking Eren's back when he woke up sobbing from nightmares, the specifics of the dreams immediately forgotten, leaving only a visceral pain that sent him shaking and gasping. They had always been close, but recently, there had been a change; Eren's hands wandered, skimming Armin's back, his chest, his arms, and his thighs. There was a curious, probing quality to his explorations, and Armin always lay completely still, awake and flooded with desire, breath stuttering.
Eren's hand began its nightly journey across Armin's skin.

It had started with her dads; Vander taking care of his precious Gibson Les Paul from the 80s, when he’d started a garage band that had led to him meeting and marrying Silco, a classically trained pianist who wouldn’t touch the open keyboard position with a ten foot pole. Vi had been put into piano lessons as soon as she could read, and after failing miserably, she’d tried just about everything before finding she had a knack for guitar. She followed in her dad’s footsteps, developing a love for the shrieking croon of an electric guitar, brought to life under fingers worn rough calluses.
