Detailed Full Summary: Post Season 4 AU where Katherine is a human and Elena has her humanity turned back on. Katherine is better at surviving and running, leading to Silas’ chase after her being prolonged. Between that and Elena grieving her loss of Damon, their relationship is pre-established as more of an on-and-off thing. Their relationship is primarily a method of coping for both girls as Katherine is readjusting to a human life while still being on the run constantly and Elena is trying not to be consumed by hatred towards Katherine while readapting to having her humanity on.
Whether there is attraction underneath it all or not, they’ll neglect it for now.
