Summary
The fight between Robert and Shroud ends much differently. He had still gotten away in the nick of time and the bomb had still been stuck to his suit. However, the explosion had left Robert with injuries so severe that it was a miracle he'd survived. Regardless of how life-altering his injuries were, SDN was still willing to take a chance on Robert. Managing his disabilities and mentoring the team was the hardest balancing act of his life.
Will Robert fuck up his only chance of becoming Mecha Man again? Or will he manage to contain it all, and find himself growing a little too close to a certain flaming asshole?

Robert, who was solidly somewhere past ‘tipsy’, was sitting at the counter with his back to the bar, simultaneously facing his team and leaning his weight on the lacquered wood behind him. He paused to process the question for a few beats, before smiling and taking another sip of his drink.
“Some sort of accident. Something with the Mechaman suit? I don’t really remember, but it looks cool, huh?”
“Dont remember? Bitch, you lost half your ear!” Prism cried out, smacking Robert’s shoulder as she laughed.

Summary
Spices and flavours explode across his tongue, whirling through his mouth with such intensity it makes him take another bite. He’s never had anything this good before, is this what real flavouring meant to taste like? He’s not sure what kind of meat the patty is meant to be, but whatever it is, it’s fucking amazing.
All too quickly he finished it all, including the chunky rice side dish that he’s pretty sure wasn’t rice. Despite that, it was delicious and he finds himself craving more.
Robert stares at the empty container with a vague sense of loss, shame rising in the pits of his stomach that he quickly ignores. Dumping the cardboard away, but the shame hasn’t faded, he realised it’s because he wanted more.
It was surprising— he’d never thought he could actually want seconds before, never thought he could have more.
And isn’t that an interesting thought?
Or,
Robert is a wreck and Flambae is sick of seeing it. So, he unexpectedly— not because he has a crush or anything— decides that their dispatcher needs some tender loving care and a proper fucking meal.

Summary
Robert took a deep breath in as he stood in the carpark of the SDN headquarters. It was almost impossible to tell the carnage that had taken place here just a few days before. But Robert’s gaze lingered on the hairline fractures in the concrete foundations, and how one of the newly installed windows still had the safety film left on by accident. The tugging of adhesive bandages on his torso was evidence enough to remind him of what happened.

“You jealous or something? Look, if you wanted to grab dinner all you had to do was ask,” Robert shoots back, dry as always.
“Yeah… hah. You're not my type.” Flambae sounds weirdly uncomfortable, almost embarrassed, and Robert’s eyebrows lift slightly. He’s never heard the man hesitate in his life.
“Girl, that’s the biggest lie I’ve heard!” Prism laughs before he can even respond. “You’re actually saying you’re not into a sad little twink like him?”

Summary
After Shroud’s fall, Robert Robertson III finds himself given the chance to step back into a world he once belonged to, only to realise just how much of it he had been surviving rather than living.
He knows he can’t keep running on the survival instincts that got him through the last fifteen years. This time, he wants to do things right, even if unlearning some of his old habits turns out to be harder than fighting villains.
As Mecha Man learns how to be a hero without destroying himself in the process, the Z Team watches closely, catching a glimpse of the unspoken, unseen side of heroism that no one really talks about.

But he wasn't just keeping Mecha Man a secret, he was also keeping his prosthetic leg a secret in fear he would be treated differently. That was until Visi convinced him at the Sardine to come clean...
OR when the suit exploded it took one of Robert's legs with it and he's trying to come clean to the team and his situationship with Flambae.

He had his moments, but Flambae was starting to lose his usual irascible self when he actually had nothing to be angry about. It weirded him and his friends out, but that was life, he guessed. It turned out that getting in a program to better his life had actually made his life better. Everything was working for him, except for one very infuriating thing.--------
How Flambae realized that he was into Robert Robertson III and how he embarrased himself trying to act like he wasn't.
